El seis de octubre se celebra el Día Internacional de la Geodiversidad: una oportunidad para honrar la riqueza geológica de nuestro planeta y comprometernos con su protección.
El planeta todo: los ríos, los árboles, las montañas, desiertos y tierras heladas, etcétera, no son escenografía como muchos avaros quieren hacernos creer. Nosotros estamos ligados biológica y químicamente al planeta y sin sus entornos naturales no podemos vivir.

On the sixth of October, we celebrate the International Day of Geodiversity—an invitation to honor the geological wealth of our planet and to renew our vow to protect it.
The whole planet—its rivers, trees, mountains, deserts, and frozen lands—is not mere scenery, as the greedy would have us believe. We are bound to the Earth, biologically and chemically entwined with its body. Without its natural environments, we cannot live.

Y así conectas con las diosas y los dioses, y así es como se hace arte... Bueno, mejor dicho, así se vive arte. Porque hacer arte es tomar en tus manos el fondo y trabajar la forma con la que quieres expresarte, compartir y dialogar con el mundo.

And then you connect with the goddesses and the gods. That is how art is made… or rather, how art is lived. Because to make art is to take the depths into your hands and shape the form through which you wish to express, to share, to enter dialogue with the world.

Desde su fundación en 1977 por Wangari Maathai, el Movimiento Cinturón Verde ha sembrado más de 40 millones de árboles en Kenia y cerca de 51 millones en todo el continente africano. Esta iniciativa no solo ha regenerado paisajes, sino que ha fortalecido a miles de mujeres, quienes han liderado la reforestación de sus comunidades, cultivando especies nativas y defendiendo el equilibrio ecológico.

Since its founding in 1977 by Wangari Maathai, the Green Belt Movement has planted over 40 million trees in Kenya and nearly 51 million across Africa. This initiative has not only regenerated landscapes but also empowered thousands of women, who have led the reforestation of their communities, cultivated native species, and defended ecological balance.

Después de perder una pierna, lejos de rendirse, el Dr. Atl ascendió —literalmente— a nuevas alturas: pintó desde el aire, desde aviones, explorando una perspectiva inédita de la geografía mexicana. Desde lo alto, captó la inmensidad de los paisajes como un demiurgo que observa su propia creación.

Even more astonishing was his aerial painting. After losing a leg, far from surrendering, Dr. Atl ascended—literally—to new heights: painting from the sky, aboard airplanes, exploring an unprecedented perspective of Mexican geography. From above, he captured the vastness of the landscape like a demiurge contemplating his own creation.

¿Solo podemos vivir como Sanchos, razonables y seguros, conformes con el mundo tal cual es, sacando provecho de él con un enfoque meramente transaccional, o vivir como Quijotes, confundiendo molinos de viento con gigantes? Me niego a aceptar ese dualismo. Tengo la certeza de que, como Cervantes, hay que tomar la pluma de la vida y decidir cómo queremos narrarnos ante nosotros mismos y ante los demás.

En esta vida hay que optar por ser personas y no personajes.

Can we only live as Sanchos, reasonable and secure, content with the world as it is, extracting benefit from it with a purely transactional mindset, or live as Quixotes, mistaking windmills for giants? I refuse to accept that dualism. I am certain that, like Cervantes, we must take up the quill of life and decide how we wish to narrate ourselves —to ourselves and to others.

In this life, we must choose to be people, not characters.

Te imaginas que los nahuas tuvieron un ritual ancestral llamado "El Barrido de los Caminos", donde se limpia el espacio y el tiempo, se purifica el alma, se agradece lo vivido y se abre el camino al nuevo ciclo?
Este ritual se llevaba para iniciar la temporada de "secas" dejando atrás el pasado y vivir así un ciclo fértil hasta que regresen las lluvias.

Can you imagine that the Nahuas had an ancestral ritual called “The Sweeping of the Paths”, where space and time were cleansed, the soul was purified, gratitude was offered for what had been lived, and the way was opened for a new cycle?
This ritual marked the beginning of the dry season, a time to leave the past behind and enter a fertile cycle—until the rains return.

¿Y si la muerte no fuera el final, sino el comienzo de una vida auténtica? Heidegger nos propone mirar de frente nuestra finitud para liberarnos. Reconocer que somos seres para la muerte transforma cada elección en un acto consciente y singular.

What if death were not the end, but the threshold of an authentic life? Heidegger invites us to confront our finitude, to break free. To recognize ourselves as beings-toward-death is to transform every choice into a conscious and singular act.
