Called by Rolling Stone “one of rock's more elaborate, beguiling and strangely rewarding concept albums,” Genesis' THE LAMB LIES DOWN ON BROADWAY was the pinnacle of the U.K. band's progressive rock phase. The double LP would be the group's final release with founding frontman Peter Gabriel, who wrote the set's lyrics about a Puerto Rican gang member named Rael and his journey of self-discovery in New York City. The Atco set showcases both the group's talent for crafting compelling songs (“Counting Out Time” and “Carpet Crawl”) and for inspired instrumental interplay. A 4-CD + Blu-ray 50th anniversary edition of the Gold-certified THE LAMB LIES DOWN ON BROADWAY arrives in stores today and includes the original album remastered, a Dolby ATMOS mix and the complete ‘Live From The Shrine Auditorium, Los Angeles, CA’ show from January 1975.

"Esto ciertamente no era rock, no era jazz, no era ni siquiera rock progresivo. Algo mágico estaba sucediendo. Paddy Spinks, el manager de la época, describía el sonido como bastante musical, bastante denso, bastante cerebral. No estaba seguro de cómo iba a funcionar aquello en un disco de música popular, pero sabía que en vivo iba a funcionar muy bien"

Pocas veces una banda puede reinventarse de la forma que la hizo King Crimson con "Discipline", y a la vez, plantar una cara tan futurística. La precisión rítmica, las guitarras de acordes desplazados y la polirritmia sirvieron como modelo para el rock progresivo moderno, el math rock, el post rock, el metal prog, e incluso ciertos acercamientos experimentales dentro del funk.
