Perobinha House by Poro Arquitetura is a gentle and grounded response to coastal living, where simplicity and place take center stage. Set lightly on the highest point of the site, the design preserves the natural terrain while opening generous views toward the sea. Its modest scale and clear program echo the local vernacular, embracing a way of life shaped by climate, craft, and community.
Organized around an open kitchen as the heart of the home, the spaces flow सहजly toward a shaded balcony and an upper terrace—inviting breeze, light, and moments of pause. The use of traditional materials and techniques, from whitewashed brick to timber structures and “tabicão” windows, reflects a deep respect for local knowledge. Quietly poetic, the house becomes a place of retreat and connection, where architecture frames the rhythms of wind, sea, and everyday life.

Wave House by Olson Kundig is a beautiful exploration of architecture shaped by nature. Inspired by the flowing topography and the gentle movement of Lake Washington’s shoreline, the architects crafted sculptural curved roof forms that seamlessly connect the home with its surroundings. The thoughtful preservation of existing trees and the use of durable, climate-responsive materials highlight a deep respect for both landscape and longevity. Inside, soaring vaulted spaces, expansive glazing, and carefully positioned daylight create an airy and flexible atmosphere for family living, while the detached workshop elegantly extends the home’s organic language. A refined balance of warmth, functionality, and fluid design makes this residence a timeless expression of contemporary architecture.

Maddison Architects redefines compact living with Tiny Home, a playful yet highly sophisticated exploration of sustainable architecture. Inspired by the simplicity of the iconic gable form, the project transforms a transportable structure into a dynamic off-grid retreat that unfolds with hydraulic sunshades, wing walls, and decking. Through innovative energy-efficient construction, integrated smart technology, biophilic interiors, and beautifully resolved material detailing, the architects prove that small-scale living can be both joyful and deeply intelligent. From charred spotted gum cladding to adaptable multifunctional spaces, every element celebrates sustainability, mobility, and contemporary design ingenuity.

“House in the Clouds” by MALVINA ZAYAT estudio de arquitectura is a poetic architectural statement where land, sky, and structure merge into one breathtaking experience.

Nestled within a native forest in Salsipuedes, this elevated white prism appears to float above the mountainous terrain—an intentional design move that blurs the boundary between architecture and atmosphere. The journey through the house is carefully choreographed: beginning grounded in stone and earth, gradually ascending through a suspended pathway, and culminating in a luminous living space that opens entirely toward the vast northern landscape.

The linear organization of the home balances functionality and emotion, with a central service core separating social and private zones, while expansive openings dissolve the limits between interior and exterior. The architects demonstrate remarkable sensitivity to context—responding to climate, topography, and resource constraints through a largely dry construction system, prefabricated with precision and assembled seamlessly on site.

Materiality plays a defining role: a restrained, geometric exterior engages in a quiet dialogue with the sky, while the interior unfolds in warm eucalyptus wood, creating an intimate, human-centered atmosphere. Every element—from movable panels that filter light and wind to thermal strategies embedded in the structure—reflects a deep understanding of both environmental performance and spatial storytelling.

Bregenzerwald Vacation Home by Architektur-SCHWEIGHOFER is a thoughtful reinterpretation of regional alpine architecture, where tradition and modern living meet in perfect balance. By reusing the original foundations and embracing solid wood construction, the architects created a warm, sustainable retreat that reflects the character of the surrounding landscape while showcasing precise craftsmanship and contemporary detailing.

The split-level design and carefully framed openings create a dynamic spatial experience, drawing natural light deep into the interiors and capturing curated views of the Bregenzerwald forest. Intimate low-ceiling bedrooms contrast beautifully with the open, multi-level living spaces, where large sliding windows dissolve the boundary between indoors and nature. Anchored by a striking black steel furnace, the home celebrates both coziness and openness, resulting in a timeless family retreat deeply connected to its environment.

Mountain Ranch by Hana Lerner Arquitetura is a beautiful interpretation of rustic elegance, where warmth, texture, and connection to nature define the living experience. Through the thoughtful use of natural stone, exposed brick, timber elements, and handcrafted details, the architect created a cozy yet sophisticated retreat inspired by the timeless charm of Tuscan countryside homes. The seamless integration between indoor spaces and the surrounding mountain landscape, enhanced by large farmhouse doors and soft natural tones, brings both openness and intimacy to the design. Every element — from the organic bathroom details to the exposed structural features and multifunctional living spaces — reflects a refined balance between comfort, authenticity, and contemporary living.

18-042_Residence B+L by DESK architectes is a refined expression of contemporary living immersed in nature. Thoughtfully positioned within the mountainous landscape of Morin-Heights, the project beautifully responds to topography, light, and the surrounding forest canopy. By elevating the living spaces to the upper level, the architects maximized natural light and framed breathtaking mountain views through expansive glazing, while the private areas remain quietly grounded within the landscape below.

The restrained material palette and minimalist interiors allow nature to become the focal point, while the contrasting black timber cladding and warm wooden alcoves create a striking architectural identity inspired by the rhythm of the surrounding mountains. Through its clarity of organization, elegant simplicity, and sensitive integration with the site, DESK architectes crafted a home that feels both contemporary and deeply connected to its environment.

Hard Werken by ISM Architecten is a thoughtful expression of architecture that responds beautifully to both landscape and lifestyle. By partially embedding the home into the natural slope, the architects created a design that feels modest yet striking, allowing the structure to blend seamlessly with its surroundings. The elegant horizontal window introduces a sense of lightness, making the house appear as if it gently floats above its base.

The project masterfully balances contrasts — a closed and minimal exterior opens into a bright, transparent interior filled with natural light through patios, skylights, and a fully glazed rear façade. Every circulation space was carefully designed to become part of the living experience rather than merely functional pathways, creating a home that gradually unfolds with movement and discovery. The restrained black exterior further strengthens the connection to the natural landscape, resulting in a refined and immersive architectural experience by I.S.M.Architecten.
