It occurred to admin that the length of reviews for Mojo Projects related shows, have become, shorter and shorter. In attendance from 2016 when Mojo Projects started its first show, its clear to see every single feed back has been taken into consideration, and where possible put into motion and operation. This is a true positive sign of a concert organizer that has its ears to the ground. Hence, feedbacks, have necessarily become shorter!
There was a prelude write up towards this concert- read here: https://www.facebook.com/share/1Bs6STvdNK/
Zepp KL has become the new staple for Mojoโs concerts and deciding so was valid. Excellent one stop venue all inclusive with also ample parking, its not a wonder why. Seamless wristband collection and ushered to seats which was in perfect elevation to catch the evenings presentation.
The live wire for the evening was Anand Aravindakshan, maybe best known as title winner of Super Singer 5 in 2015. 9 years on, heโs become not only a notable playback singer but has honed the ability to handle live shows as second nature. Worthy to note that S.P Charan also served as a judge during that yearโs edition- perhaps explaining the strong bond and chemistry they both shared on stage last Saturday night. AA, as monikered, has already been in playback singing before his title win, hence this 36 year old was on point with every rendition on stage, bringing his aura and charisma known for live performances.
It was good to see Vijay Prakash (VP) back with this Silver Tree - Mojo Projects tag team offering, last seen for MILFF 2017 of the same partnership. VPโs signature vocals has always been waited for with baited breath. Refreshing to see his takes on SPB classics- which may not have been best suited but like any good vocalist- was done artriculately. His sense of charisma was on point and the crowd loved him on stage, his banter and his mere presence. I want to point out that this Carnatic music trained singer, was himself in action as a finalist of a different singing show- Sa Re Ga Ma Pa back in 1999! Soon to be in his 5th decade of age, his 'maturing' is showing but his vocal prowess was on point as always.
Saindhavi โs appearance under this partnership, has been many. Starting out in 2018, shesโs been a permanent feature post pandemic too with MILFF 2023, Private Party in 2024 and for this Meendum SPB 2.0 now in 2025. Needless to say why. A child prodigy that was already debuting into the Carnatic music sabha fraternity at a tender age of 12, her play back singing started as early as 2005 and there has been scores of songs that have had a long and lasting impressions made, by which garnering a stead state of followers specially here in Malaysia. Due to her appearance in competitive singing show as a judge, sheโs been a familiar face for most Malaysian audiences. Her vocal delivery for the evening was impeccable, both as main and support for the various tracks delivered.
Admin was there specifically, to watch this up and coming singer โ Priyanka NK. Also, coming out as an artiste that was a result out of shows like Super Singer Junior and Super Singer, it was awesome to see how unfazed she remained whilst singing with truly established singers. She had a calm and collect demeanor and delivered her parts extremely well. Her renditions without much effort or exertion (seemingly) reminded admin of how S Janaki sings! This 28 year old dentist, is one talent to watch for!
Its note worthy to mention the backing band this time that was featured
Naveen Jude - Keys
Prasanna Keys
Derick - Pads and percussions
Harrish - Lead guitar
Santhosh - Bass
Balajee - Flute
Muthu - Tabla
Arun Kumar- Drummer
Some stellar showmanship which carried the shole concert perfectly. Rhythm section tight, and melody structure layered. In perfect unison with the featured vocalistโs.
Saving possibly the reason and theme for the evening. As was put forth at the concert, often, whether hiding in the shadows of his legendary dad or being put there, S.P Charan came out of it. Admin saw a full bloomed performer (not just vocalist) that was in control of the evening, be it in banter or in music. His voice, which used to sound very much like his dad, is now blessedly sounding more than ever like SPB! Some of his songs rendered, was in perfect pitch and nuance of his dad and where he felt he didnโt do justice, he repeated it! Showcased his respect for his legendary dad while bringing his own twists as a vocalist. Some moment defying brigade to SPBs already perfectly sung songs!! Set admin out to memories of originally sung pieces by the great SPB
Admin realises how these singing competitions now, offers a plethora of talents and hoe this cookie jar becomes now a choice for picking by event managers. Something to think about in the local shores too.
I think the evening, offered what Mojo does best. Nostalgia. In that nostalgia, itโs wonderful to see each singer bringing his/ her own takes, keeping the boundaries while pushing the bar. The small anecdotes, experiences shared by the singers themselves, added the intimacy and curation note that Mojo brings to its concerts. In fact, some songs, forgotten with time was brought back into memory! From its flawless LED and superb audio- one can tell that Mojo has reached its steady state with its vendor partnerships. Whatโs better, we were left with announcement of a 3.0 to come. As S.P Charan put it, they can do up to any amount of installations and still not repeat any songs! That is the unparallel universe of SPB which crosses a myriad of composers, genres and languages. What a treat. Thank you Mojo Projects. Looking forward to future presentations.
