Kota Kinabalu, 27 June 2025 โ JCI Tanjung Aru proudly hosted an engaging pickleball workshop, โPicklepals Day,โ at Pickle Collective KK, located in Pacific Sutera, with the aim of introducing the sport of pickleball to the local community.
The event was graced by Guest of Honour, YB Datuk Jannie Lasimbang, whose presence underscored the importance of promoting healthy and active lifestyles among the public. A special thanks to YB Datuk Jannie Lasimbang from Kapayan for her sponsorship, as well as for listening to the voices of the younger generation regarding community development, which contributed to the success of this event. During the event, she encouraged young people to become active citizens and to speak up for society.
The workshop featured an introduction to the sport, a demonstration session, and a series of station games designed to give participants hands-on experience and a fun, interactive way to learn pickleball.
Organising Chairperson JCI member Rex Chong shared, โThe event drew an enthusiastic crowd of over 100 participants, many of whom expressed highly positive feedback about their newfound interest in the sport.โ
What made โPicklepals Dayโ particularly special was that it was entirely planned and executed from the ground up by the members of JCI Tanjung Aru, offering a powerful platform for young leaders to take on real-world leadership roles. From conceptualization and logistics to ex*****on and partnership coordination, members were actively involved at every stage โ gaining invaluable experience in project management, teamwork, and civic responsibility.
โPicklepals Dayโ was made possible through the generous support of sponsors including Arise Sport Venture, KK Drinks Sdn Bhd, Onaki Sdn Bhd, Life Water Marketing Sdn Bhd, Falovi Confinement Centre, with equipment support provided by the Sabah Pickleball Association (SAPA). The event was also co-collaborated with Kota Kinabalu Pickleball Association (KKPA), Momโs Kitchen Pickleball Story, and Picklenabalu, reflecting a strong partnerships within the local pickleball community.
