Lord, I draw close to You today, grateful that You will draw close to me as You have promised in Your Word (James 4:8 ). I long to dwell in Your presence, and I want to know You in every way You can be known. Teach me what I need to learn in order to know You better. I don't want to be a person who is always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth (2 Timothy 3:7 ). I want to know the truth about who You are, because I know that You are near to all who call upon You in truth ( Psalm 145:18 ).

I will pray to the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever- the spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him now knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. - John 14: 16-17

God, thank You for being faithful. Thank You for making a way for me to know You. You are enough for me, and You make me enough. Please show me how You are at work in my life. I will choose to patiently wait on You, because I know that You will finish the work You started in me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God, You know that I need You. I’m sorry for all the times I’ve pretended that I’m fine on my own. Please forgive me. Today, I come to You just as I am, and I give You all of my anxieties, cares, and worries. Please replace worry with peace, anxiety with hope, and concern with confident trust. I know that I am safe with You, and You can handle my problems. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God, thank You for caring about my troubles. I am grateful that You not only want to hear my problems, but You want to bring me peace. Jesus, I praise You for all You’ve done in my life and all that You will continue to do. You are always good—no matter what my situation looks like. Thank You for being my true, constant source of hope. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God, You know exactly what I’m going through right now. You’re not surprised or intimidated by it. Thank You for always being near to me. You never fail me. Today, please remind me of how close You are. As I reach out to You, please come and rescue me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God, I want every aspect of my life to be honoring to You. Sometimes my thoughts get set on things that don’t honor You. Help me each day to renew my mind—to replace negative thoughts with those that are good and pleasing to You. Help me to focus on Your truth in every moment. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God, when the troubles of my heart are many—You are still faithful. When I am tired, overwhelmed, burnt out, or grieving—Your love still covers me. Thank You for showing me kindness and mercy every day. Your mercies never cease, and Your steadfast love endures forever. Great is Your faithfulness! In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God, thank You for teaching me through Your Word. And thank You for placing people in my life that inspire me to draw close to You. As I go about my day, please surround me with opportunities to learn more about You, and apply what I learn. God, sometimes, it’s hard for me to turn to You when I’m afraid, but I trust that You will answer me when I seek You. I know You hear my anxious thoughts—so I give them to You. Rest for the Weary

Are you carrying an impossibly heavy burden? Are you trying to manage a massive load all by yourself? Are there wounds and worries that are weighing down your soul?

It doesn’t have to be this way …

“Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11:28-30‬

Jesus wasn’t saying to come to Him and do nothing. He’s not saying to quit your job and abandon your life and move to a deserted island. This isn’t a call to be idle, but an invitation to rest—and to work from rest.

A yoke is a device used for joining two animals together for a purpose like farm work—for plowing a field or pulling a heavy load. As always, two are stronger than one.

Jesus’ mention of the yoke implies there is still work to be done, but we don’t have to do it alone.

You have a Savior who is humble and gentle, whose compassion is deep and whose love is wide. He is so wild about you that He left the glories of heaven and became human to suffer and die—in order that you might live.

We must draw near to the One who carried the biggest burden of all—the sin and rebellion of the world. The One who conquered death and defeated the grave will eventually redeem all things … once and for all.

God longs for us to come close, to fall in step beside Him, and to lean into His grace. Why? Because we thrive when we live and work from a place of genuine rest.

He’s inviting you to come. Will you? If you’re not sure where to start, simply ask Him for help.

Prayers :
Jesus, You know exactly what I need. You know where I am suffering and hurting. And You are gentle with me. You want me to approach You, and give You all my concerns. So here I am. I need You, and I want You. Please carry these burdens with me, and give me Your rest in return. Amen.
