Boombox Records, a Malaysian record label, is one of the country’s key pioneers of Malaysian Hip Hop music. It’s founder and lead artist; Yogi B from Poetic Ammo is a prolific Hip Hop emcee and music producer. In 1997, Poetic Ammo pioneered Tamil Hip Hop with the song ‘Vallavan’ from their debut album ‘ It’s A Nice Day To Be Alive’ . In 2006, Yogi B further innovated Tamil Hip Hop with the release

of the Boombox Records’ first Tamil album, ‘Vallavan’ by Yogi B & Natchatra. Dr Burn & Emcee Jesz were introduced as Natchatra and are now world renowned Tamil Hip Hop artists. ‘Vallavan‘ achieved global recognition and acclaim and is touted to be the most successful Tamil Hip Hop album to date. Boombox Records strives to uphold the values of Tamil/Indian ideals, tradition and culture; infused with the real soul of old school Hip Hop ideologies. We is now poised to release Yogi B’s follow up album to ‘Vallavan’, titled ‘Manthrahood’ to be released in 2015.
