Tony Carruthers, 57, has avoided ex£.cution after medical staff were unable to locate a suitable vein for a l£thal inj£ction at Riverbend Maximum Security Institution in Nashville, Tennessee.

Carruthers was scheduled for ex£.cution following his conviction for the 1994 kidn∆pping and mur.d£r of three people.

Officials stated that while a primary IV line was established, a required backup line could not be inserted in accordance with protocol. Attempts to place a central line were also unsuccessful, and the procedure was stopped.

Carruthers was returned to custody, and Tennessee Governor Bill Lee granted a one-year reprieve.

Carruthers has maintained his innocence. He was convicted based on witness testimony and has continued to challenge the case.

The ex£.cution has been postponed pending further review under state procedures.

A 46-year-old inmate has been found d£.ad inside his cell at Mule Creek State Pri$on in California, with authorities treating the d£.ath as a possible h0m!cide.

A former San Antonio Police Department officer, Matthew Luckhurst, who was previously di$missed in 2016 over mi$conduct allegations, is now serving with the Benavides Police Department in South Texas.

According to records, Luckhurst has been employed with Benavides PD since April 2023 after also working briefly with another Texas department in 2022. His past employment history had drawn public attention and prompted internal reviews at previous agencies.

Benavides Police Chief Andre Hines confirmed the hiring, stating that a background check was completed and that the officer has had no reported issues since joining the department. The department also noted its focus on second chances and ongoing professional oversight.

A London man has been j∆iled after admitting to s£.xually ass∆ulting women who had f∆llen asleep on Night Tube services between 2017 and 2021.

Salman Yousaf, 46, pleaded guilty to eight counts of s£.xual ass∆ult and one count of outr∆ging public decency. Investigators linked him to multiple incidents on the Central and Jubilee lines after reviewing unsolved cases.

Idaho has passed a new law allowing prosecutors to seek the d£.ath penalty for adults convicted of aggr∆vated s£.xual abu$e or r∆pe involving children aged 12 and under.

The bill was signed by Brad Little and also names the f!r!ng squad as the state’s main ex£cut!on method. Supporters say the law strengthens penalties for cr!m£s against children, while cr!tics expect legal challenges over whether the puni$hment is constitutional under existing U.S. Supreme Court rulings.

The legislation, known as House Bill 380, received support in both chambers of the Idaho legislature.

Florida police have arr£sted Brenden Lee Jones, 40, on a s£.xual b∆ttery charge linked to an alleged 2023 ass∆ult in Fort Lauderdale.

According to investigators, the woman was inj¥red in a car cr∆sh and reportedly asked to be taken to a hospital. Police say she was instead taken to a house, where the ass∆ult allegedly happened.

Authorities said DNA evidence later connected Jones to the case, leading to his arr£st. Court records also show he previously served pri$on time for r0bb£ry, dr.u.g-related off£nces and esc∆pe.

Jones is currently being held in Broward County on bond as the case moves through court.

A woman in the UK, Janice Nix, 67, has been found guilty of m∆nsl∆ughter in connection with the d£.ath of her five-year-old stepdaughter, Andrea Bernard, following a court ruling at Isleworth Crown Court in London.

The court heard that the incident took place in 1978 at a home in Thornton Heath, south London, but the case was reopened decades later after new evidence was brought forward. Andrea d!.ed in hospital weeks after s¥ffering s£vere inj¥ries.

Prosecutors said the case had initially been treated as an acc!dent at the time, but was later re-examined as part of a cold case investigation.

A key witness, Andrea’s brother, came forward years later, providing testimony that helped lead to the conviction. The court also found Nix guilty of child cru£lty relating to the same period.

Chinese executive Xu Yao has reportedly been ex£cut£d after being convicted of poi$on!ng billionaire gaming tycoon Lin Qi, founder of Yoozoo Games.

Authorities said Xu poi$on£d Lin in 2020 during an internal di$pute at the company. Lin later d!.ed at age 39, while several other employees reportedly became !ll but survived.

Yoozoo Games was known for holding adaptation rights connected to 3 Body Probl£m, based on the sci-fi novels by Liu Cixin.

Chinese media reported Xu was convicted in 2024 and ex£cut£d in May 2026. The company later confirmed the s£ntence had been carried out.
