inside Kota Kinabalu, Sabah Market way back 2024 ✨

i remember when i first met my Sabahan husband back when we were still in the Philippines. he would always tell me, “go back in Sabah, you can eat any seafood you want. it's mura.” i honestly thought he was just exaggerating 😆

fast forward three years later, we finally went back to his hometown. he is a proud Sabahan, anyway. the first place he took me to was the market. i was surprised... everything was so mura. seafood i could only look at back home because of the price, i could finally buy without hesitation. we ended up buying so much because it felt like a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me. OA ngani. what made it even more special was how fresh everything was. the sea is literally right beside the market.

it wasn’t just about cheap seafood. it was about understanding why life there feels abundant in such a simple, honest way. it made me understood why he always spoke so proudly about his hometown. who won't if it gives ease of living to the people? ✨

now that we are living in Kuala Lumpur, we make sure that we always go back to Sabah every year. we will go back again this year and we'll surely buy something again in the market. 😆💖🍀🪷🛡️

happy new year 🥂🥳

these holidays felt extra special because i finally got to celebrate with my parents again. the last time i spent the holidays with them was three years ago. after getting married, we had to cleave and build our own home and life, which meant time and distance apart, especially since i moved abroad. coming together truly felt like coming home.

it was also my mom’s first time celebrating the holidays in another country, and seeing her genuine happiness made everything even more meaningful.

always grateful for the simple things in life. presence is the best gift. thankful for the happiness, peace, genuine love, and support. grateful that the Highest always listens to my heart’s requests.

waiting for their return again this year with our whole big family. so it is.
