Watched 20th Century Girl 💁🏻‍♀️📸

Set in 1999, this nostalgic Korean movie is about a high school girl helping her bestie spy on her crush, but ended up falling for his bestie. 💞

Using a misunderstanding trope as a plot twist, the simple love story gets complicated. 🫣

Love the storyline, cast chemistry & heartfelt dialogues. 🥰

This is Byeon Woo-Seok's earlier work before he blew up on Lovely Runner. Apart from time travel as in LR, there are surprisingly many similarities between both shows, eg. High school romance & the girl helps out at their family's video rental store. 📼 💁🏻‍♀️

The only thing I don't like is the sad ending of Woon-Ho ended up dead instead of reuniting with Na-Ra. Also, his death wasn't properly explained, causing a shock among viewers who rooted for the couple. Welps, it need not be a tragedy. 😭

Anyway, I still think it's a good watch if you yearned for a throwback to the late 90s and the anticipation of stepping into a new millennium Y2K! 📼📺 📸

Watched "Nabbie's Love" 👵🏻💓

Set in Okinawa, this Japanese romcom is about finding love regardless of age. 🏝️🥰

Although this movie was made in 1999, the themes remain timeless in 2025 : Rekindling love for an old flame, returning from the city just to realize love is in your backyard, and inter-racial relationship. Quite ahead of its time actually... ⏰

The only problematic part of this movie is Nabbie abandoning her kind & devoted husband to elope with her old flame. But I feel it addressed ageism well. Eloping is not just a youth thing. Age shouldn't stop you from being reckless in love! ❤️‍🔥

An enjoyable watch if you are cool with bending your moral compass for reckless passion!! 🧭

Watched "Wall To Wall" 🧱

This Korean thriller movie is about a young office worker pouring his everything into buying an apartment in Seoul, which turned out problematic - Debilitating noise between floors. 🔊🏙️

It also talks about unscrupulous investors making life hard for the home owners (who were already sinking in debt) so they give up their properties for a sum way below market rate. 😈

Home ownership is the source of pride for many people who toiled their lives away at work. However, is it truly worth the pain, especially when it's a problematic property that is hard to stay, rent or sell later on? 🤔

A good movie that helps you empathise the problems faced by the lower middle income South Koreans with a dream of owning a home. 🏠🇰🇷

Completed the Japanese General Course (Starter A1 Part 1) ✅

After 7 weeks studying 日本語 @ The Japan Foundation KL, I am able to read & write Hiragana and Katakana, introduce myself, ask someone where they are from, what do they do for a living, how many people (and who are they) in their family, as well as what languages they can speak. 💪🏻

Watched ITO「いとみち」💁🏻‍♀️🎸🎶

Set in the city of Aomori 青森県, this Japanese movie is a coming-of-age story about Ito, an introverted high school student who at the spur of the moment decides to come out of her shell by working part time at a maid cafe. ☕

She meets all kinds of interesting characters while working there and somehow finds the opportunity to share her family heritage ~ by playing the Shamisen, a traditional Japanese musical instrument. 🎸

My favourite quote is : "If you are not good with words, express yourself with music!" 💪🏻

Growth happens when you are willing to step out of your comfort zone, revisit memories that are distant yet important, and stepping up to contribute one's unique gift when the occasion calls for it. 🌸

いいですね ~ What an awesome movie! 👏🏻

Rewatched YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL 💁🏻

This Kdrama is about how a nun disguised as her ill twin brother to fulfill his dream to debut in a prominent K-Pop Boy Band! 🎸

Watched this drama when I was in uni. Don't understand much since I watched it in bits and pieces due to my busy schedule. 🤔

Now I understand the nuances & complexity of emotions portrayed by the cast ranging from feelings of abandonment, unrequited love, and pursuing your love wholeheartedly. 💞

When I was younger, I liked Shin-Woo as he is warm-hearted & protective of Mi-Nyeo. Today, I feel he could be more forthright since he knew about her gender way ahead of the rest. 🏆

As for Tae-Kyung, I find him too sassy at the beginning, but his warmth eventually comes out and I love his frankness in expressing his feelings to Mi-Nyeo. Great characterisation by Jang Geun-Suk, I really missed his acting work. Battling thyroid cancer & recently recovered, I hope to see him back when he is 💯 again! 💘

I love the fictional band's songs. Had A.N.Jell become a K-Pop band for real, they would be a big hit since co-ed bands are so rare... 😍🎶

Played an hour of Nu Disco on a pleasant Sunday evening. ☕🪩🍵

Whenever someone told me : "You played my song...", I thanked the disco ball above me for its fortune telling skill... 😁🔮

Had a great time meeting many genre-fluid DJs who play multiple genres like : House, Drum & Bass, Acid, Cumbia, Trap, and more! 💪🏻
