Have you ever experienced the sea of clouds in Hokkaido? Besides the popular TOMAMU, you are also able to see it in the town of Nanae in southern Hokkaido. Just hop on the Hakodate Nanae Gondola, which is also the longest distance (3,319m) glass capsule gondola in Japan, and head to the peak. It’s about a 20min ride to the top, with a spectacular view from its 1000m altitude. You are more likely to see the sea of clouds during spring and early summer, but sometimes it’s possible to see it during July and August or in the fall. It’s recommended to stop by and enjoy a cup of coffee and snack at the PEAK CAFÉ while relishing the beautiful views. There are some walking trails as well, so come and hike some of them on your next visit to the area.

Concerning the story that someone posted after visiting Safari Park Kanchanaburi.

We can guarantee that we have never and will never hit our animals. We truly care about the safety of our guests and our animals. Forcing our animals to do activity is against our zoo’s core values.

It is common for giraffes to scratch themselves on tree branches when feeling itchy. This natural behaviour can sometimes lead to skin wounds when repeated daily. One of our male giraffes had acquired such wound which was in the process of healing.

On that day, our staff noticed that the giraffe had scratched the wound on the upper frame of the car during an activity and suddenly the wound opened. This caused some of his blood to fall down, which may have caused the customers to misunderstand the situation.

After the incident we gave the giraffe first aid and arranged for him to stay in a safe area.

Concerning the use of stick:
Our trained staff will hold a stick in hand to lead our giraffes to the right direction, and not too close to the guests. The stick is never used for hitting our animals.

We sincerely do apologise for the misunderstanding. Please rest assure that we have never and will never abuse our animals. We treat our animals with full care and love.

We can’t force our giraffes to come closer by hitting them, they will run away as our space is open. Our giraffes live in an open air environment and we have never locked them in a cage for the purpose of photo shooting.

For the photo shooting activity we use food (vegetables and fruits) to lead our animals to come closer to the guests whom they have learned to trust. We have been doing this activity for 5 years without any incidents as our animals are being well cared for by our staffs.

Any incident without clear insight can lead to distortion of reality and misunderstanding. Please do not judge the book by its cover until you have investigated and found the true story behind.

「北碧府SAFARI野生動物園」鄭重聲明

有關某人在臉書的貼文，內容提及長頸鹿疑似因員工施暴而受傷流血一事，動物園在此鄭重聲明，這是完全不存在的事！

1、我們從未讓我們的動物流血，在保護遊客安全的同時，我們也會保護動物不受到任何傷害。

2、動物園最初成立的宗旨是出於「保護野生動物」，讓更多人藉由親近動物而了解動物，進而願意保護野生動物。

3、動物園也配合國際愛護動物組織，每年接納志工入園訓練。

4、動物園開放遊客與動物互動項目，營收用於動物園營運，但強迫動物做活動，不是我們動物園的核心價值。

5、文中所提及的那隻長頸鹿男孩，原本就存在著正在癒合的舊傷口，當牠感到發癢時，會用樹棍抓撓，而當天，工作人員注意到牠走路時劃到車架導致舊傷口裂開，血流了下來，這可能導致了當時的遊客產生了誤解，而之後我們再次為牠做了清創治療，並安排牠留在安全的地方。

6、關於手杖；園方所有工作人員都會手持手杖，其作用是用來引導所有的動物走向正確的方向，不要離遊客太近，而非用來施打動物，這點澄清至關重要。

對於造成誤解的情況，我們深表歉意的同時，卻也感到深深的遺憾被誤解，再次聲明；動物園從未發生過「虐待動物」的事，我們以關懷和愛對待牠們，這是我們創立動物園的初衷及理念。

動物園從計畫到成立以致開幕營運，至今已三十年，而利用食物來引導動物，讓牠們產生信任和喜愛，繼而願意與遊客親近產生互動的活動也有 5 年了，那位臉書貼文所質疑的事，以前從未發生過，以後也不會發生，所有的動物都受到我們細心的呵護和照顧。

在此，園方再次呼籲；所有善意的建議及指正，我們虛心接受，但任何人，在未瞭解事實之前，不應只憑個人想像及揣測，便在社交媒平台發表誤導不實言論及質疑，若涉及不實指控及毀謗，園方亦會考慮訴諸法律維護聲譽！

再次，我們依舊感謝您一如既往的關心及支持。🙏🏻
