Common Grammar Mistakes You Must Avoid (SSC & Daily English)
Many learners make mistakes with plural-only nouns like cattle, police, people, etc.
Remember: they always take plural verbs 👇

✅ Correct Examples with Simple Rules

1️⃣ Cattle have been moved to the new farm this month.
👉 Rule: “Cattle” is always plural, so use have, not has.

2️⃣ Police have been deployed in the area today.
👉 Rule: “Police” is a plural noun and never takes a singular verb.

3️⃣ People have been warned about the storm this week.
👉 Rule: “People” is plural (singular = person).

4️⃣ Poultry have been vaccinated this season.
👉 Rule: Group animal nouns like “poultry” are treated as plural.

5️⃣ Clergy have been invited to the ceremony this year.
👉 Rule: “Clergy” has no singular form and always takes a plural verb.

6️⃣ Sheep have been grazing near the hills all day.
👉 Rule: “Sheep” can be singular or plural—verb depends on meaning.

7️⃣ Fishermen have been rescued safely this morning.
👉 Rule: Nouns ending in -men are always plural.

8️⃣ Livestock have been transported overnight.
👉 Rule: “Livestock” is plural-only in standard usage.

9️⃣ Staff have been informed about the policy change today.
👉 Rule: When “staff” means many people, use a plural verb.

🔟 Cattle have been inspected by officials recently.
👉 Rule: Use have been with plural nouns in passive voice.

✨ Quick Tip:
If the noun refers to a group of people or animals, think PLURAL VERB first!

Sharif Osman bin Hadi (Osman Hadi / Usman Hadi) | Bangladeshi Political Activist, Inqilab Moncho Leader, Youth Icon

Sharif Osman bin Hadi (also known as Osman Hadi or Usman Hadi) was a Bangladeshi political activist, youth leader, educator, and the co-founder and spokesperson of Inqilab Moncho. Born on 30 June 1993 in Nalchity, Jhalakathi, he grew up in a religious family; his father was a madrasa teacher and imam. He completed his Alim education at Jhalakati N S Kamil Madrasa and later studied Political Science at the University of Dhaka. He also worked as a lecturer at a private university in Dhaka.
After the July Revolution, Osman Hadi emerged as a prominent voice in youth-led political movements. He became widely known for his outspoken criticism of corruption, authoritarian politics, and what he described as Indian hegemony in Bangladesh. He consistently spoke about justice for the July martyrs, national sovereignty, and democratic accountability. In preparation for the 2026 general election, he announced his candidacy as an independent candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency, gaining attention through grassroots campaigning.
Osman Hadi had publicly stated that he was receiving death threats. On 12 December 2025, he was shot in the head in Dhaka after leaving a mosque. Despite treatment in Bangladesh and later in Singapore, he died on 18 December 2025 at the age of 32. Authorities arrested suspects and stated that investigations were ongoing.
Supporters and many members of the public allege that his assassination was politically motivated, pointing to his strong stance against the former Sheikh Hasina–led Awami League government, alleged influences within state institutions, and his vocal opposition to Indian political influence in Bangladesh. These claims remain contested and politically sensitive, while demands for a transparent and impartial investigation continue.
His death triggered nationwide protests, unrest, and international concern, and he is remembered by supporters as a symbol of resistance, youth courage, and political dissent in contemporary Bangladesh.
