The artist behind #Kendylife is non other than Kendrick. Kendrick’s childhood interest in art matured into a love of comic by his early twenties. He started out putting his keen observation skills and humor to use as a cartoonist and created kendylife. Exposure to the South East Asia’s art style had a great influence on the young artist, and directed the course of adding the elements of superflat and doodle art into his works.
Largely a self-taught Artist, Kendrick has a passion and joy for creating an artwork from an empty space. He enjoyed the freedom and emotions of abstract and doodle art. His abstracts are inspired by his superflat, modern and through the exploration of other art forms, developed into what they are today. Kendrick have won several awards for works including Personal Brands Awards 2017 presented by the Marketing Institute of Singapore, International property awards in APAC region – website design, Social Media Excellence Award – Property Industry 2014, DIGI WWWOW IFA Awards 2014 Top 10 Finalists – Content Category and have provided workshops and speeches in different countries including Malaysia, Australia and Singapore.
Kendrick always exploring and experimenting on his works. His doodle works take him to the realm of realistic fantasy; beyond his normal but not outside of his reach. Having dedicated himself to art for the last 12 years and counting, Kendrick continues to challenge himself creatively by approaching each doodle and webcomic as an opportunity to try something new. “My intention is to create a story or a doodle work every time I draw a empty paper or a canvas. This gives me never ending room to grow and experiment with my art.” Prior to this, Kendrick spent 3 years in the property industry as a digital marketing executive and 3 years as a creative director for various agencies as well as his own. Kendrick currently lives at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
