The anhinga, also known as the snakebird or water turkey, is a large waterbird with a long, S-shaped neck, a dagger-like bill, and a fan-shaped tail.
Males are mostly black with white or silver streaks on their wings and back, while females have buff-colored necks.
During breeding season, males develop bright blue skin around their blood-red eyes.
