Concerns are growing over reports of v**e products allegedly containing synthetic drugs being accessed by young users in Malaysia.
According to authorities, social media has become one of the main channels used to promote so-called ‘dadah zombi’, with transactions allegedly taking place through fake accounts, disappearing messages, and invite-only groups that can be difficult for parents and guardians to monitor closely.
What is it?
‘Dadah zombi’ is a term commonly used to describe powerful synthetic opioids such as fentanyl and related substances.
Because fentanyl is extremely strong, even small amounts can carry a serious risk of overdose. The nickname comes from its effects, which may include extreme drowsiness, slowed breathing, confusion, and loss of awareness – causing users to appear ‘zombie-like’ in severe cases.
Why are authorities concerned about v**es?
Recent reports in Malaysia have raised concerns about synthetic drugs being processed into v**e cartridges and electronic ci******es. Authorities have also warned that such substances may sometimes be consumed unknowingly when mixed into v**e liquids, highlighting an emerging risk that health and enforcement agencies are monitoring closely.
Why does social media matter?
Authorities say these substances are increasingly being promoted online, on platforms that many teenagers use daily – often beyond the close supervision of parents or guardians.
As va**ng becomes increasingly common among teenagers and young adults, experts stress the importance of awareness about what may be present in unregulated products and the potential dangers of unknown substances.
