The role of a Public Relations Office (PRO) in an organization is to promote a positive image of the organization and keep the public informed about the work being done by the institution.
This is why the Rundu Town - Council should not only release notices and statements, but also go into the field and document the work being done by the council and its stakeholders to improve the lives of residents. Projects such as road construction, the NamWater treatment plant, drainage works, electrification, and other new developments in town should be regularly shared with the public.
The council’s PRO office should visit project sites, take photos and videos, and provide short updates explaining the progress and benefits of each development. Sharing such content on social media and other communication platforms will help residents see that the council is working and trying to improve service delivery.
When residents are kept informed and can see visible progress, it improves the image of the town council in the eyes of the public. It also builds trust and confidence between the council and residents. In return, residents will be more encouraged to support the council’s work, including paying their municipal accounts, because they can see where their money is going and believe in the work being done.
