OPINION FROM KAVANGO FOOTBALL COMMENTATOR ,JOHANNES OM KAYU: LET'S FOOTBALL UNITE PLAYERS

Kavango East Region continues to produce talented footballers, with seven teams competing in the Northern East First Division and two teams having represented the region in the Namibian Premier League.

Despite Rundu Chiefs’ relegation, the region remains a football powerhouse.
However, it is disappointing that some community tournaments are restricting First Division and Premier League players from participating.

Rules limiting professional players to two or four per team are preventing talented players from enjoying the game. The recent Ham’s Here’s Cup situation, where Kangweru Black Tops and Ntunguru Mundiro Wakudira Kudima could not participate, shows the challenge facing our football.

Football is meant to unite communities and promote sportsmanship, not create separation. I encourage sponsors from Ndiyona, Ndonga Linena and Mashare constituencies to introduce open tournaments without restrictions.

Let players enjoy the beautiful game and inspire the next generation.

KAVANGO EAST REFEREES DEPARTMENT INVITES YOUTH TO JOIN REFEREEINGEING TRAINING

refereeing family. The department is inviting aspiring referees and those with previous experience to take part in a special training programme aimed at developing future football officials.

The training will take place from 11 to 13 September at Maria Mwengere Youth Centre, also known as Kongoro. Participants will learn the Laws of the Game, improve their fitness levels, gain confidence, and develop the skills needed to become qualified football referees.

Both female and male youth are encouraged to participate and take this opportunity to contribute to the growth of football in Kavango East.
