‘DOWN KMTC’: Concerned residents of Katima Mulilo town staged a peaceful demonstration today to outline what they term grave concerns and objections regarding the recent land allocations made by KMTC and urgently requested transparency, accountability, and reforms in line with the Local Authority Act and good governance.

They handed over their eight-page petition that was read by Owen Mahoto to the Deputy KMTC Mayor, Lascan Sikosi who promised to study it and share it with fellow councillors.

IMPOSSIBLE: President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah said today that it will be impossible for the government to employ every unemployed teacher.

“It will not be possible for every teacher to be employed by the government. It is just not possible but a good number will be taken depending on the demand in the industry,” adding that the government will find a way to reduce the high unemployment rate.

She was addressing a group of qualified unemployed teachers at the state house, who revealed that over 8000 education graduates remain unemployed.

MEETING: President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah today met with representatives of unemployed qualified teachers.

Joyce Liswaniso the Chairperson of unemployed qualified teachers has requested that government abolishes the interview system, adding that it is marred by nepotism.

Interview travel costs, she added have become a burden, she said, adding that candidates are forced to travel from different regions and sleep at service stations.

BAIL: Lydia Elindi, one of the suspects in the NAMCOR corruption scandal was granted bail in the amount of N.dollars 50 000 this morning.

This is after the state, represented by Menesia Hinda said it no longer opposes the granting of bail.

Elindi will report herself everyday at the Anti-Corruption Commission.
