🚢 Seamless Upgrade: From ES60 to ES80 – Delivered On Time, No Delays.

At Radio Electronic (PTY) Ltd, we recently completed a time-critical echosounder upgrade onboard one of our client’s vessels and we’re proud of how it came together.

The vessel had been operating with a Simrad ES60, a system the Captain knew well and trusted. However, as with any legacy equipment, intermittent failures started to occur, making replacement unavoidable.

The challenge?

We were only informed once the vessel was already on the synchrolift, with a very tight window before re-launch.

🤝 Fast coordination was key
Working closely with our trusted partner MRAD, we were able to:

✅ Source the required equipment at short notice
✅ Deliver to site without delay
✅ Complete installation and commissioning in time

⚙️ New system installed

Simrad ES80 Broadband Echosounder
ES38-7 Split Beam Transducer

This combination provides:

🔹️Improved target resolution and detection accuracy
🔹️Reliable bottom tracking and pelagic observation
🔹️A modern, stable platform replacing legacy hardware

The vessel was relaunched on schedule, with:

With deep sadness and sincere respect, we join the entire Namibian Maritime community in remembering and honoring the life of 𝗔𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝗟𝗼𝘂𝘄 🕊️

Alan's remarkable commitment to the Walvis Bay Yacht Club spanned an incredible 58 years, a testament to his passion, dedication, and unwavering support of the maritime community. Throughout the decades, he became far more than a member; he became part of the fabric of the club, leaving behind a legacy built on friendship, service, and a genuine love for the sea. ⛵

Those who had the privilege of knowing Alan will remember his steadfast presence, his contribution to the sailing community, and the positive impact he made on so many lives. His legacy will continue to live on through the stories shared, the friendships formed, and the community he helped strengthen over the years.
