The earth is not ours, it is a treasure we hold in trust for future generations. – African Proverb

In Northern Namibia, we don’t just live on the land but we live with it. This is from planting crop seeds to herding goats, every step of each day tells a story of survival, harmony, and hope.

This short film is a glimpse into how biodiversity shapes our way of life — feeding us, guiding us, and connecting generations.

Protecting biodiversity means protecting our identity, our future, and the wisdom of those who came before us.

At ClimateCreators Hub, we believe that local solutions hold the key to addressing global challenges. In the village of Okongo, community members are transforming the way they adapt to drought by harvesting rainwater using zinc roofs. 🌧️ This precious water is stored in bottles and large drums, becoming a lifeline for families and livestock, especially younger animals that cannot reach distant water points. 🐄💦

🌱 Why Water Harvesting is Crucial:
✅ Provides reliable water access during dry seasons.
✅ Reduces dependence on faraway water sources.
✅ Supports sustainable livelihoods for rural communities.

This innovative yet simple practice is a testament to the resilience and ingenuity of local communities in the face of climate change. 🌟 Together, we can amplify these solutions and build a more sustainable future.

🌾 Ploughing Time: A Season of Hope and Challenge in Northern Namibia 🌧️

It’s ploughing season, and families in northern Namibia are hard at work in their fields—cultivating, tilling, and thinning crops like mahangu. For many, this is a season of renewed hope as rains bring the promise of food and sustenance. But not all regions have been so fortunate—while some have received rain and begun cultivating, others are still waiting, a stark reminder of the challenges brought by climate change.

🌍 The Reality of Farming in a Changing Climate:
⏳ Cultivating seasons have shifted, making it harder to predict when to plant.
💧 Persistent drought continues to threaten crops and livelihoods.
💪 Yet, the resilience of these communities shines through as they adapt and work together to sustain their families.

These images, taken in the mahangu fields of northern Namibia, capture the spirit of a people who won’t give up, even in the face of uncertainty. Together, we can advocate for solutions to help these farmers thrive in a changing climate. 💙
