We (Napwu) have successfully concluded a wage and wage negotiation with Telecom Namibia for 2024/2025.

✅ Key Highlights:

💰 Salary Increment: Once-off taxable payment of N$12,000 (payable on 25 November 2025) to all permanent and contract employees on contracts longer than 12 months.

🏠 Housing: Across-the-board increase of N$150,000 in the housing loan qualifying amount for all Telecom employees.

🚌 Transport, Standby, Subsistence & Travel Allowances: Maintained at current rates.
🏥 Medical Aid & Severance Pay: Maintained in line with the Labour Act.
🖥️ ICT Benefits & Pensioner Benefits: Maintained at current rates.
🔄 Shift Rotation & Daily Allowance: Maintained at current rates.
📑 Leave Days: Additional leave entitlements for continuous shift workers maintained.

The agreement was officially signed today, 19 August 2025, in Windhoek by:
Cde. P.T. Nevonga – NAPWU General Secretary
and Dr. Stanley Shanapinda – Telecom Namibia Chief Executive Officer

This agreement reaffirms the commitment of both parties to safeguard employee welfare while ensuring the sustainability of Telecom Namibia.

On the 2nd day of August 2025, Namibia Public Workers Union (NAPWU), under the leadership of the Branch Chairperson, Comrade Mercel Noble, duly convened a meeting of its Branch Executive Committee (BEC). The purpose of the meeting was to conduct a performance review of the Branch’s activities, evaluate the Union’s visibility and effectiveness at various workplaces, and to adopt strategic measures aimed at enhancing recruitment efforts. The Committee further resolved to strengthen the defense and protection of worker's rights, and to promote unity, solidarity, and discipline in the workplace in alignment with the objectives of the Union Constitution.

NAPWU Engages New Staff at Ministry of Gender PSSR Induction

The Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Welfare, through its Deputy Director for Human Resource Management, Mr. Sakaria Sheehama, is currently conducting a Public Service Staff Rules (PSSR) induction for newly appointed staff members from five regions.

As the exclusive bargaining agent for public service employees, NAPWU was officially invited to present its mandate, role, and benefits to the new recruits. The union was proudly represented by the Western Region Coordinator

, who engaged the participants on the importance of union representation, collective bargaining, and protecting workers' rights in the public sector.

NAPWU Secures Substantive Wage Agreement with NQA.

We are pleased to announce that on 2 July 2025, a substantive wage agreement was officially signed between NAPWU and the Namibia Qualifications Authority (NQA).

📌 The agreement covers employees at NQA who fall under the bargaining unit and includes the following improvements, effective 1 April 2025:

✅ 5% salary increment for the 2025–2026 financial year
✅ Housing allowance increase from 26% to 31%
✅ Transport allowance increase from N$1,650.00 to N$2,000.00
✅ Medical aid contribution remains unchanged at 80/20 (Employer/Employee)
✅ Pension contributions remain at 16% (Employer) and 7% (Employee)

This agreement is a result of constructive engagement and negotiation — a demonstration of NAPWU's continued commitment to protect and advance the rights and benefits of its members. 💪🏽
