IT'S A WRAP! ... Thanks to the student journalists, journalism graduates and working journalists who participated in our two-day training on 'Fact checking & verification for journalism students and recent graduates'. 🙏 also to trainers Rosevitha Ndumbu and Louivenzia Komases.

This training, from 15 - 16 April 2025, was made possible with grant funding from the BUILD 2024 fund of the International Fact-Checking Network.

Our two new trainers, Rosevitha and Louivenzia, handled most of the training and made us proud 👏👏👏. And participants were satisfied as well, with one stating in the evaluation form: "It was very informative and eye-opening knowledge that I needed".

LAUNCHED! ... Yesterday the IPPR Namibia and Namibia Fact Check launched the findings of the Countering Mis- & Disinformation project, which sought to identify the narratives, actors and pathways of election-related mis- and disinformation ahead of last year's elections.

The report, bulletins and podcasts produced under this project will be uploaded to the IPPR Namibia and Namibia Fact Check websites and shared via the various social media pages over coming days.

We would like to thank the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) High Commission of Canada in South Africa for financially supporting the production of the outputs of this project 👏👏👏.

In the three months since the conclusion of Namibia’s presidential and parliamentary elections and the announcement of results, followed by court challenges to the results, no political party, politician, or social media user has come forward with credible evidence that the Zimbabwean ruling party had played a part in an alleged attempt to rig the Namibian elections of 2024.

Before and after the voting there were loud claims and accusations of Zimbabwe’s ruling party having influenced Namibia’s elections, but months later this still remains unproven
