For many Namibians, home ownership remains more of a dream than a reality. The numbers are sobering: a housing backlog of 300,000 units, more than 200,000 shacks in Windhoek alone, and an average three-bedroom house in the capital costing around N$1.2 million. Against this backdrop, the Government Institutions Pension Fund (GIPF) has launched its Pension-Backed Home Loan Scheme (PBHLS), which will take effect next January.

Ngcove Primary School in Rundu Urban is facing challenges as more than 400 learners share a single dilapidated toilet, creating a health risk.

Principal Benolda Kapinda Munkanda has appealed for donations to build proper toilet facilities and provide classroom furniture, as some learners are forced to sit on the floor due to a shortage of chairs.

MTC has removed subscription limits on its popular Aweh packages, allowing customers to purchase as many as they want.

Announcing the change this afternoon, MTC’s general manager for product solutions, Andreas Gustav, said the decision followed customer feedback and market analysis.

“This is a revamped Aweh journey where our prepaid customers can now subscribe to as many Aweh packages as they want – giving them control. You are no longer limited to just three renewals or forced to wait for subscriptions to expire,” Gustav explained.
