PRESS STATEMENT
Subject: Reaffirming Party Unity, the Valid Status of the National Secretary, and Strategic Readiness for the 2027 Elections
The Abia State Working Committee of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) deems it a duty—borne of both responsibility and fidelity to truth—to speak clearly, firmly, and without ambiguity on current developments affecting the structure and soul of our party.
We recognize that in times of political recalibration, especially in the lead-up to general elections, it is common for misinformation and calculated deception to be deployed by elements whose loyalty has long shifted from the collective interest of our party to the pursuit of personal ambition and unholy alliances. It is in this light that we address all well-meaning party faithful, stakeholders, and indeed the general public with the following declarations:
1. The Restoration of Senator Samuel Anyanwu Was Lawful, Collective, and Final
Let it be categorically and unequivocally stated that the question of the National Secretary of our great party has been conclusively resolved in favour of Distinguished Senator Samuel Anyanwu. His restoration is not only legal but was borne out of extensive consultation with all critical stakeholders of the party, including:
• Members of the National Working Committee (NWC)
• The Governors’ Forum
• The Board of Trustees (BoT)
• The National Assembly Caucus of the PDP
• The Forum of Former Governors
• The Forum of State Chairmen, and
• In direct consultation with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and distinguished legal luminaries
This resolution received final enforcement through the highest organ of our party—the National Executive Committee (NEC). It is therefore not only valid but binding. Any contrary claim is both mischievous and legally baseless.
2. The Duty to Inform and Educate: PDP Must Lead with Clarity and Conviction
The Abia State PDP holds it as a sacred obligation to educate and inform its members with precision and transparency. In a time when falsehood travels with speed and political saboteurs exploit silence, we must not allow doubt to take root. Our members deserve to know the true status of affairs, and we shall continue to expose the schemes of pretenders masquerading as loyalists while secretly courting alliances with opposing forces.
3. No Merger, No Alliance — Our Identity is Intact
For the avoidance of doubt: The PDP in Abia State is not in any merger, alliance, or political pact—formal or informal—with any individual or party ahead of the 2027 elections. Our ideological compass remains clear, our structures unshaken, and our strategy uncompromised. Those peddling these insinuations are agents of confusion who have long deviated from the PDP ethos. They shall be resisted at every front.
4. Preparedness for 2027 Elections and Beyond
The PDP remains strategically prepared to field credible and capable candidates for all contestable positions in the 2027 general elections. In addition, we are fully mobilized to participate in all forthcoming off-season and by-elections, including those in Anambra, Edo, Oyo, Ekiti and the FCT Area Councils as scheduled by INEC. Our internal structures are active, our organs are functioning, and our base is energized. The PDP is not merely waiting for the future—it is preparing to lead it.
5. A National Convention Anchored in Order and Legitimacy
The party leadership is taking every necessary step to conduct a well-organized, lawful, and unifying National Convention later this year. We urge all members to align with this process, which is designed to strengthen internal democracy and project the PDP as the only party with the structure and soul to rescue Nigeria.
6. Members Must Reject All Campaigns of Calumny
We urge all loyal members of our party to jettison every campaign of calumny—whether from expelled members, agents of confusion, or externally-funded infiltrators. No individual, no matter how highly placed, has the moral or constitutional right to malign the very institution that gave them a political identity. The time has come to confront falsehood with facts, and betrayal with discipline.
Conclusion: Truth Is Not on Trial
The PDP is not afraid of truth; we are founded on it. We do not operate in secrecy—we thrive in structure. We are not weakened by dissent—we are strengthened by discipline. Therefore, we reaffirm our commitment to unity, electoral victory, and the sustained dominance of the PDP in Abia State and across Nigeria.
Let those who seek to derail this train know that the party is neither asleep nor divided. Our eyes are open. Our voice is firm. Our direction is clear.
Long live the PDP.
Long live Abia State.
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Signed:
Elder Abraham Amah
State Chairman of PDP Abia State.
