Member of the Nigerian House of Representatives, Amobi Ogah, has noted that it was embarrassing that Nigerian leaders have to die abroad and be shipped back to the country.
He stated this in defence of a bill seeking to prohibit public and civil servants from patronising private schools and healthcare.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expressed outrage over what it describes as “fiscal vandalism” by the Tinubu administration following the approval of yet another $21 billion in foreign loans by the National Assembly. The party says this new wave of borrowing will drive Nigeria’s public debt beyond ₦200 trillion before the end of the year, with no corresponding development or economic revival to justify it.
Six students of the Nigerian Law School have been abducted by suspected gunmen while travelling from Onitsha, Anambra State, to Yola, Adamawa State. The abduction occurred late on Saturday, July 26, as the students were en route to resume academic activities at the Yola campus of the Nigerian Law School.
The Society for Family Health (SFH) said nine Nigerians die every hour in Nigeria as a result of malaria. It also said on Sunday that 97 per cent of Nigerians suffer from the burden of malaria.
The House of Representatives has proposed a single day for the conduct of the five elections in 2027. If the proposal is upheld, the reviewed Electoral Act would empower the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to simultaneously conduct the presidential, senatorial, House of Representatives, governorship, and House of Assembly polls in one day.
