3 CHEAP WAYS TO CUT BROILER EXPENSES THIS WEEK 🔥

You don’t need a new farm to save money. Fix these 3 and watch your costs drop:

1. Insulate Your Brooder
Use cardboard, sacks, or wood shavings around brooder walls for week 1-2. Traps heat = 30% less gas/charcoal/electricity.

2. Water Hygiene = Vet Bill Savings
Wash drinkers daily. Clean water prevents http://E.coli + gut issues. Prevention is 10x cheaper than treating disease.

3. Cull Runts Early
Birds that are 40% smaller by day 10 will never catch up. They just eat feed and drag your FCR down. Remove them early.

Smart farmers cut waste, not quality.
Which tip surprised you most? Let’s discuss 👇

FEED HACKS THAT SAVE YOU MONEY EVERY BATCH 💸

Feed eats 70% of your broiler budget. But you don’t have to over-spend to get 2kg birds. Try these 3 hacks:

1. Reduce Spillage = Reduce Waste
Raise feeders to chest height. Use feed trays for week 1. Spilled feed = money on the floor.

2. Feed at the Right Time
Feed more in the cool morning + evening. Birds eat less and waste less when it’s hot. Remove feed 1-2hrs during peak heat.

3. Buy Smart, Not Just Cheap
Join 2-3 farmers and buy feed in bulk. You’ll get wholesale price + split delivery cost. Quality > cheap feed that gives poor FCR.

Which one will you try this batch? Comment below 👇

3 NON NEGOTIABLES FOR FASTER GROWTH Want better growth rates in your broiler flock? Focus on these three non-negotiable fundamentals:

1. Clean Water First: Broilers consume roughly twice as much water as feed. Keep drinkers clean and supply cool, fresh water daily—dehydration instantly slows down weight gain.

2. Proper Ventilation: Fresh air flow removes harmful ammonia build-up and keeps litter dry, preventing footpad lesions and respiratory issues.

3. Lighting Schedules: Give your birds 1 to 2 hours of complete darkness every 24 hours (after their first week). This reduces sudden death syndrome, builds stronger bone structure, and improves feed conversion.

What is your biggest challenge with broiler management right now? Let’s talk in the comments! 👇

Your broiler house smell = Your profit alarm🚨

If you walk into your pen and smell strong ammonia, your birds are already suffering.

Ammonia from droppings causes:
1. Respiratory problems - Coughing, sneezing, poor growth
2. Eye problems - Watery eyes, blindness
3. Slow weight gain - Birds eat less when air is bad

Fix it in 24 hours:
1. *Ventilation* - Open all windows. Airflow is free medicine.
2. Litter management - Remove wet spots daily. Add fresh wood shavings.
3. Stocking density - Don’t overcrowd. Give them space to breathe. 10 birds per sq meter max.

Healthy air = Healthy birds = Faster weight = More money.

EARLY DISEASE DETECTION 🔍

Catching health issues early can save your entire flock! A healthy broiler is active and alert, but sick birds leave obvious warning signs if you know where to look.
During your daily flock walk, check for these red flags:

1. Behavior: Birds huddling in corners, showing low energy, or sitting with drooping wings.
2. Respiration: Open-mouth breathing, gasping, or gurgling sounds in the house.
3. Droppings: Wet, watery, bloody, or bright green droppings indicate gut trouble or infection.
4. Litter Condition: Wet patches around drinkers often mean digestive upsets across the flock.

Early isolation and quick treatment save money and lives!

COST-SAVING FARM PRACTICES 💡

Cutting farm expenses doesn't mean cutting corners on flock health! Try these three proven ways to keep money in your pocket:
1. In-House Biosecurity Over Medication: Preventing disease is far cheaper than treating an outbreak. A simple footbath at the entrance, restricted visitor access, and dedicated farm boots can cut your vet and medication bills by half.
2. Bulk Sourcing Ingredients or Feed: Join forces with nearby farmers to buy feed ingredients, disinfectants, or day-old chicks in bulk. Purchasing together unlocks wholesale discounts and reduces transportation costs.
3. Smart Energy & Brooding Management: Insulate your brooder space during the first few weeks to trap heat. Sealing drafts reduces charcoal, gas, or electricity usage without chilling your chicks.

Which of these money-saving habits are you already using on your farm? Drop a comment below! 👇

STOP WASTING FEED! This one mistake is eating your profit 😩

Most broiler farmers lose 10-15% of their feed to spillage and that’s money on the floor.

3 quick ways to cut feed waste this week:
1. Use the right feeders - Raise them to chest level of the birds. Don’t let them scratch feed out.
2. Don’t overfil - Only fill feeders 1/3 full. Birds will scatter it if it’s too much.
3. Check feeder placement - Keep them away from water and heat so feed doesn’t get damp and moldy.

A bag of broiler feed is ₦30k+ now. Saving just 1 bag per 1000 birds = ₦30k straight to your profit.

BROILER FARMING TIP: Week 3-4 is where money is made or lost! 💰

This is the “growth explosion” stage for broilers.
If you miss it, your birds will be small at 6 weeks and your profit will shrink too.

3 things to focus on this week:
1. Feed - Switch to finisher feed and ensure 24/7 access. A broiler should eat ∟120g per day at this stage.
2. Water - Clean, cool water at all times. Heat stress = poor feed conversion.
3. Ventilation - Open up! Ammonia and heat will stunt growth and cause sickness.

Remember: Feed is 70% of your cost. Good management in week 3-4 = bigger birds + better FCR + more profit.

Are your birds hitting 1kg+ by week 4? Drop a 🙌 if yes!
