Good morning Honourable Commissioners,

On behalf of the Society Well-being Advocate of Nigeria (SWAN), Ebonyi State Chapter, I wish to draw your urgent attention to a matter of great concern affecting petty traders at Diamond Point, Abakaliki, near the Kpirikpiiri Division Police Headquarters.

Yesterday evening, while interacting with some women trading in that area, those who sell roasted corn, pork meat, fruits, and soya, it was gathered that they were each compelled to pay the sum of ₦1,500 as a form of levy towards the construction of the ongoing culvert at that location. These women expressed deep frustration and lamented over this development.

As an advocacy body for the welfare of citizens, SWAN finds this situation both painful and unacceptable, especially considering that such infrastructural projects are rightly government-sponsored and aimed at easing the burden of the people, not compounding it.

We therefore respectfully call on your good offices to urgently investigate this matter, identify those behind such exploitative practice, and ensure that corrective measures are taken. Such acts of extortion do not in any way reflect the vision and agenda of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Builder Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, under the People’s Charter of Needs.

We trust in your commitment to justice, fairness, and the protection of the welfare of Ebonyi people.

Honourable Chief Stephen Uchenna Igwe on Sensitization for Peace

Ebonyi State Commissioner Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon . Chief Stephen Uchenna Igwe JP. since assumption of office as the Honorable commissioner of the Ministry has graciously settled several disputes relating to traditional rulers selections and coronations in more than Fifty (50) Communities in the State.

Today more than seventy Communities have joyfully selected and crowned their traditional rulers under the supervision of Ebonyi State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters.

Chief Uchenna Stephen Igwe in no doubt is not only a democrat but an astute administrator who has aligned himself with the policies of his Boss the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency Rt. Hon . Builder Prince Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru who on assumption of office declared war against any vacant position of traditional rulers in any Community of the State.

Today, more than seventy Communities have successfully crowned their traditional rulers.

Ebonyi State traditional rulers remain grateful to the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State who on the assumption of office awarded the building of Duplex Lounge to all the traditional rulers in the State, construction of 2km road in addition to the increment of their monthly stipends.

The Ebonyi State Government through the State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters has reshaped and revived the local government system in the State making it functional, productive and effective.

The State Governor has also revived Ebonyi Development Centers and mounted a constant monitoring and supervision of the administrators therein through the Honorable commissioner ministry of local government and Chieftaincy Matters to ensure that the People's Charter of Needs of our dear Governor gets to the grassroots .

Today, Ebonyi People are celebrating the youthful and workers friendly Governor who did not only revive the Local Government System in the State but granted the opportunity for every Community to select and crowned their traditional ruler using the man of peace Chief Stephen Uchenna Igwe JP.
