After learning what happened on the night Chidi disappeared, Nneka could no longer stay away from the mysterious stream.

She needed to know what had really happened to him.

That night, Nneka secretly returned to the river. The moon was bright, but the forest was strangely quiet.

As she stood beside the water, she noticed something beneath the surface.

There was an old stone covered with strange markings.

Nneka moved closer and suddenly saw a name carved into it.

CHIDI.

After hearing that someone had taken Chidi's shadow, she went to her mother and demanded answers. Mama had been hiding something for years, and Nneka could see the fear in her eyes.

Mama finally told her about the night Chidi disappeared.

Years ago, Chidi was found near the mysterious stream, unconscious and badly injured. The villagers gathered around him, but something about him frightened them.

When the village Elder examined him, he noticed something impossible.

Chidi had no shadow.

The villagers believed he was no longer an ordinary living man.

After the mysterious figure disappeared into the darkness, Nneka remained frozen beside Chidi.
She could still hear the strange words ringing in her ears.
“The one who took my shadow.”
For the first time, Nneka understood that Chidi's secret was far deeper than she had imagined.
He was not simply a strange man who had appeared in their village.
He had died once.
He had returned.
And somewhere between his death and his return, someone had taken his shadow.
Nneka followed Chidi home that night, but she could not sleep.
Everything Mama had warned her about suddenly began to make sense.
The old stories about the stream.
The strange things people had seen there.
The disappearances nobody could explain.
And now Chidi.
The following morning, Nneka went to her mother and told her everything.
Mama's face changed immediately.
