My dear Ebonyi brothers and sisters,
I am compelled to address the utterly devastating killings of our people from Abakaliki who were brutally attacked on June 30, 2025, during their monthly community meeting in Ogboji, Anambra State. In a remarkable display of courage and resilience, our people had gathered peacefully, only to be stormed by armed men who forced our innocent brothers to lie on the ground and opened fire, leaving at least 11 dead and several others injured.
This was a cruel, unprovoked attack on law-abiding Igbo sons and daughters who were simply discussing the progress and welfare of their community. It is deeply shocking and completely unacceptable, but even in the face of such horror, we must draw strength from our collective spirit and resilience.
I strongly condemn this wicked massacre, and I stand with Governor Francis Nwifuru and all well-meaning Nigerians in demanding that justice be served swiftly. I equally call on Governor Soludo, the Anambra police, and all security agencies to ensure that the perpetrators of this horror are brought to book without delay, for we are a people who will not be broken by violence and hatred.
We must rise up and demand justice, for no one should ever have to fear for their life just for attending a community meeting. The blood of our Abakaliki brothers cries out for justice, and we must be the ones to answer that call. This must be the last time we witness such a tragedy, and we must work together to build a brighter future for ourselves and for generations to come.
