💔 Sometimes, it's essential to step back and see things from the perspective of those who work for us.

Take a moment to really look at this picture.

This woman could easily be the mother of some of the folks lounging comfortably in those chairs, yet here she is, sitting on the ground, holding one of their bags.

No matter what someone's title, influence, or social standing is, this image should give us pause for thought.

Offering her a simple chair just behind them wouldn’t diminish anyone’s worth. In fact, it would demonstrate respect, compassion, and true leadership.

I once had the privilege of working with a team connected to a country’s Ambassador and Prime Minister, and I was genuinely struck by how they treated their staff.

They sat together.
They shared meals at the same table.
Sometimes, they even traveled in the same vehicle.
And they called each other by their first names.

There was authority, yes, but there was also a deep sense of humanity.

Sadly, in Nigeria, many workplaces have created a significant divide between “boss” and “worker,” leaving employees too intimidated to speak openly to their superiors.

In some communities, particularly in Arewa, the respect for hierarchy can sometimes go too far.

Leadership should never blind us to the fact that everyone deserves dignity.

You can wield power without making someone feel insignificant.
You can be a boss while still embracing your humanity. ❤️

Every single morning, he trekked several kilometers to work, simply because he couldn’t spare the fare. Fast forward a few years, and he’s now the proud owner of the very company that once turned him away.

Never underestimate the strength of perseverance. Your present circumstances don’t dictate your future.
