There is a quiet tragedy to young love for those who did not receive the love they needed in childhood. Often, it is not the absence of feeling, but a kind of emotional blindness - a veiled alexithymia - where awareness struggles to register what the body already knows. Their first loves are often only recognised in hindsight - not because they did not love the other, but because they did not realise they already did.

Stop minimizing and discounting your feelings. You have every right to feel the way you do. Your feelings may not always be logical, but they re always valid. Because if you feel something, then you feel it, and it's real and true for you. It's not something you can ignore or wish away. It's there, gnawing at you, tugging at your core, and in order to find peace, you have to give yourself permission to feel whatever you feel. You have to let go of what you've been told you "should" or "shouldn't" feel, because there is no "should" when it comes to feelings. You feel what you feel, and it's okay. Your feelings can't be wrong because they're yours. Not your partner's. Not your friends'. Not your family's or your peers' or your coworkers' or random strangers' you meet in passing. They're yours. And you don't need anyone's permission or approval to feel them. Your feelings are important and they matter. You matter-and it's more than okay to feel what you feel. Don't let anyone, including yourself, convince you otherwise.

…PROMISES FIVE MAJOR PROJECTS,OTHERS IN 2026 BUDGET

The Town Square meeting organized to afford Oron Federal Constituency opportunity to avail the Akwa Ibom State Governor of their needs, became another empowerment avenue for Governor Umo Eno as several indigenes smiled home with cash grants.

The cash totaling N335m naira were given to traders, farmers and business owners in the five local government areas of the federal constituency, including Oron, Okobo, Udung Uko, Urue Offong Oruko and Mbo.

51 million naira went to 108 farmers from the 2 billion naira farmers loan, 543 business men and women got 225 million naira, while 10 entrepreneurs received 5million naira each
The Governor who spoke at the occasion, said the presentations were done in line with his government’s policy of entrepreneurial and agricultural development.

“We have received the needs documents and we’re going to look at it local government by local government and work with it as it will form part of the 2026 budget christened ‘The People’s Budget.

“As you know, there are 31 local government areas and even if we cannot execute all the projects on this document, we will make sure we execute at least one from each of the five local government areas.

“Because we swore to be fair to all, we will not leave any federal constituency in the state behind.”

Governor Eno who expressed delight at the progress of the 14km Airport – Nsit Atai -Okobo Road, commended the contractor, Hensek Integrated Services, for the pace of work.

“That road has seen three successful government and has been used for campaigns, but today with the finishers anointing that God has given us, that road will be commissioned soon.”

The Governor used the occasion to announce that, “very soon, we shall be flagging off the construction of city gate into the Ibom deep seaport project and the sales center.”

Commending the massive turnout at the Stadium, Governor Eno urged people to keep faith with their representatives as the Needs documents would capture virtually the priority needs of the people of the constituency.

The Deputy Governor, an indigene of the area, Senator Akon Eyakenyi expressed appreciation for everything the Governor has done for her people and assured them that even more are on course under the ARISE Agenda.

“The Governor is very passionate about Oro and he has promised to do more. Everything I ask him, he is always very willing to do it for us in Oro. Thank you for loving me and my people”, she said, while also thanking everyone who made the occasion a success.

Earlier while setting the tone for the engagements, the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Enobong Uwah had said that, “we are here to listen to the Oro people, and get to know what their needs are, so that they can be captured in the 2026 budget.

“You are going to have the ARISE traders’ grants, the ARISE Farmers’ Grants, and the ARISE MSMEs grants.

“For the love you have shown the Governor, I can assure you that he will show you more love in return from now till 2031.”

The SSG who particularly expressed joy over the progress at the Airport – Nsit Atai – Okobo Road, assured that was among the 52 projects by the Governor in the area.

In their presentation, the leaders of Oron Federal Constituency, who spoke through Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem, eulogized the Governor for working hard to “depopulate the kingdom of the devil”.

“Our people shall stand by you in appreciation of your excellent performance across the entire State, and in Oron Federal Constituency in particular.”

The stakeholders thereafter cladded the Governor in their traditional regalia of wrapper and cap to show their appreciation for all of his gestures to their people.

This was followed by a vote of confidence by the lawmakers from the federal constituency, following a motion by federal Lawmaker Martin Esin and seconded by Chief Effiong Johnson, the Chief Whip of the State Assembly.

In his goodwill message, Sir Essang Nsa Bassey, President General of Oron Union expressed appreciation to the Governor on the numerous completed and ongoing projects and assured the Governor of their continued support come 2027.

Edo Tribunal Uses Oyetola-Adeleke Case As Reference In Leaked Judgment

Barely 24 hours after summoning parties to appear before it, copies of the purported judgment of the Edo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has flooded the internet.

The Justice Wilfred Kpochi-led three-member tribunal had on March 3, reserved its judgment on the case the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and its candidate, Mr Asuerinme Ighodalo, filed to challenge the outcome of the governorship poll that was held in the state on September 21, 2024.

The panel had in the early hours of Tuesday, directed the parties to appear before it on Wednesday for the judgement.

However, in what appeared as a leakage, copies of the judgement made their way into the internet, indicating a two-to-one split in the decision of the tribunal.

According to the documents that were sighted by Vanguard on Tuesday, while Chairman of the tribunal, Justice Kpochi, and member 1 of the tribunal, Justice A. B. Yusuf, dismissed the petition and affirmed the election of Governor Monday Okpebholo, the third member of the panel, Justice A. A. Adewole, ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to issue fresh Certificate of Return to Ighodalo of the PDP as the authentic winner of the poll.

In the said minority judgement, Justice Adewole held that Governor Okpebholo’s election was invalid by reason of non-substantial compliance with provisions of the Electoral Act.

He held that the 2nd Respondent, governor Okpebholo, was not duly elected by a majority of lawful votes cast and proceeded to nullify his return as the winner of the gubernatorial contest.

“The petitioners case was not rebutted and showed unit by unit, how the actual total should be 243,113 votes, while the 2nd Respondent’s tally should stand at 210, 326 votes- a clear reversal of the declared result,” Justice Adewole was credited to have held in the leaked documents.

However, in the lead and majority decision of the tribunal, its Chairman, Justice Kpochi, held that “while there was credible evidence of non-compliance particularly concerning section 73(2) (failure to record serial numbers in EC 25B) and section 51(2) (over-voting) the petitioners failed to demonstrate that these breaches substantially affected the outcome of the election as required under section 135(1) of the Electoral Act.

“On the issue of the majority of lawful votes, the petitioners established instances of incorrect collation and exclusion of results. However, their mathematical and documentary evidence did not conclusively establish that the margin of lead was overtaken or that they scored the highest number of lawful votes.”

Relying on the Supreme Court decided cases in Oyetola Vs Adeleke, 2023, 10NWLR (Pt 1892), as well as Atiku Vs INEC (2023), 19NWLR, pt. 1927, the panel held that the petitioners failed to prove not only that non-compliance occured, but also that it was substantial enough to have affected the result of the election.

Adding that the petitioners ought to have tied every complaint to figures, demonstrated the net effect of each infraction and shown that for the violation the outcome would have changed.

“We find that the petitioners have not discharged the dual burden to the satisfaction of the law.

“Accordingly, the petition lacks merit and is hereby dismissed,” the document further read.

It will be recalled that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had declared that Okpebholo of the APC secured a total of 291, 667 votes to defeat his closet rivalry, Ighodalo of the PDP, who got a total of 247, 655 votes.

Dissatisfied with the outcome of the poll, the PDP and its candidate approached the tribunal, alleging that it was not conducted with substantial compliance with provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022.

In the petition marked: EPT/ED/GOV/02/2024, it was alleged that Governor Okpebholo did not secure the highest number of lawful votes that were cast at the election.

It was equally the contention of the petitioners that INEC failed to serialise and pre-record some of the sensitive materials that were deployed for the poll, a situation they said aided the rigging of the election in favour of the APC and its candidate.
