THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OF NIGERIA HAS APPROVED A MONTHLY PENSION INCREMENT OF N32,000 FOR THOSE WHO RETIRED UNDER SEVERAL KEY PUBLIC SERVICE SALARY STRUCTURES.

The government this follows the consequential adjustments to salaries in line with the new minimum wage law and amid the growing hardship in the country.
The National Salaries, Wages, and Income Commission (NSIWC) confirmed the increase in a memo dated September 27, 2024, signed by its Chairman, Ekpo Nta.
The memo detailed that the affected retirees include those who served in health, education, and security sectors, including doctors, lecturers, police, paramilitary, and armed forces personnel.
The pension raise is part of the implementation of the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act of 2024, which came into effect on July 29, 2024, following the President's approval.
The adjustments apply to various consolidated salary structures, including the Consolidated Public Service Salary Structure and the Consolidated Armed Forces Salary Structure, among others.
The commission also directed agencies not included in the listed structures to apply for pension adjustments in accordance with constitutional provisions.
According to the memo, “Consequent upon the implementation of the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024 and the consequential adjustments in the salaries of employees in the Federal Public Service, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has approved an increase of N32,000 per month on the pensions of retirees under the defined benefits scheme of agencies on the following salary structures: Consolidated Public Service Salary Structure, Consolidated Research and Allied Institutions Salary Structure, Consolidated Universities Academic Salary Structure, Consolidated Tertiary Institutions Salary Structure II, Consolidated Polytechnics and Colleges of Education Academic Staff Salary Structure, and Consolidated Tertiary Educational Institutions Salary Structure.
“Consolidated Medical Salary Structure, Consolidated Health Salary Structure, Consolidated Para-Military Salary Structure, Consolidated Police Salary Structure, Consolidated Intelligence Community Salary Structure, and Consolidated Armed Forces Salary Structure.
“The approval takes effect from July 29, 2024. Agencies that are not part of any of the above-mentioned salary structures should, in line with Section 173 (3) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) and Section 3 (P) of the NSIWC Act, apply to the commission to determine the appropriate increase that will be applicable to their retirees.”
The increment follows the passage of the new minimum wage law, signed by President Bola Tinubu after consultations with labour unions.
The adjustment is part of the Federal Government’s efforts to ease the financial burdens on retirees and ensure their pensions reflect current economic realities.

EDO ELECTION: POLICE ARREST POLITICAL THUGS, RECOVERS FI****MS IN OVERNIGHT RAIDS, VOWS TO DEAL WITH ILLEGAL ARMS BEARERS AND TROUBLE MAKERS

The Nigeria Police Force has made a significant breakthrough in its efforts to curb electoral violence in Edo State with the arrest of two political thugs, namely: Edwin Obanor, 43-year-old and Audu Tajudeen, a 41-year-old PDP member from Ugbogbo quarters, Igara Akoko, Edo.

Acting on a tip-off that some individuals had been armed to cause mayhem and distability during the election on Saturday, the police operatives swooped into action and apprehended Obanor, a leader of an armed group, at Oredo Ward 4 at about 9pm and Audu Tajudeen at Igara Akoko, Edo, on the eve of the election. Upon searching the bags in their possession, three cut-to-size locally fabricated pistols were discovered on Obanor, while one locally made gun was recovered from Tajudeen.

These arrests are a testament to the Nigeria Police Force's commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring a peaceful electoral process. The police and other supporting security agencies will not tolerate any form of violence or disorderliness during the election in Edo State.

The suspects are currently in custody and will face the full weight of the law. The Police reassures the public of its dedication to protecting lives and property and, therefore, urges citizens to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or via our published help lines.

Painful demise of younger sister of Pastoranking and her husband; what really happened and testimonies of his friends and neighbors are seen in the pictures.

The tragic incidents that claimed the lives of this beautiful couple occurred on the Sunday afternoon of 25th August 2024 at there new duplex, opposite st John's Catholic Church Udemezue, Abakaliki, Ebonyi state.

The both couple and their three years old son was both upstairs when the husband, George Buchi suddenly started perceiving something that smelled like a burning object.

He told the wife that he'll like to go check out what was smelling and the wife followed suites immediately leaving their Son king upstairs as he was asleep.

The both couple was heading to the door to open it and observe the environment but something suddenly exploded on them.

The husband sustained a severe burnt all over his face and body and went into comma immediately.

Chioma,the wife on the other hand got burnt on her face and some parts of her hands and body.

She immediately placed some of her friends and her dad on call. But because it was Sunday, some of her friends couldn't reach out immediately but neighbors rushed into her home and drove them to the hospital.

Her friends met her at Fetha at the burnt unit where they were both rushed to, George having sustained more severe injuries was attended to first by about 5 team of doctors while the wife was attended to by two doctors and a matron.

Chioma was stronger and taking her calls but suddenly died on Saturday 30th of August at about 7.38 pm.

George kept fighting for his life till yesterday,the 11th day of September but sadly passed away at 12 noon African time.

Worthy of note is the fact that, there Gas which was initially speculated to be the cause of their death didn't explode, and also the inverter battery is intact at their generator house far away from the main building where it was installed.

George is an expert on Inverter Installation and as you can see on the images attached, nothing happened to their Inverter Battery. And nothing happened to their gas.

Also, the gate which was locked when the explosion happened was suddenly wide open which the wife kept asking when she was still alive who had opened the gate since their house helps wasn't available too.

The cause of their death has remained a mystery as both the couple and their closed friends couldn't ascertain what really played out on that ugly day.

There 3 year old son and a relative where actually upstairs and nothing happend to them

The couple, Chioma, who was fondly known as Chioma Pato in refence to his brother Pastoranking, hailed from Onicha-Igboeze (Onicha LGA), and George who hailed from Uburu (Ohaozara LGA), both in Ebonyi, moved into their new duplex on the first week of August and celebrated their son's birthday on the 11th of August at their residence with well wishers and friends. They celebrated their son's birthday and housewarming the same day.
