GOVERNOR NWIFURU TAKES A TOUR OF COMET, OFFERS
In no distant time, Ebonyi State will have within Her ranks, a factory for the production of various heavy-duty carriers, like covered vans, axle flatbeds and low-beds, bitumen tanks, fuel tanks, vacuum suction tanks, tippers of various axles, double cylinder tippers and cement bulker tanks.
The Governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, gave the positive nod to this, yesterday, when he made a working visit to COMET โ a factory in Tunisia, established in 1971 and known for manufacturing and assembling various kinds of heavy-duty carriers.
His passion is not only to catalyze economic activities in Ebonyi State, but as well, to improve economic and trade relationship between African States and Nations, hence to lessen importation from the West.
โAfrica has come of age and we have to show to the world that yes, we have come of age. It is already happening here. What is left is for us to stop importing and I am sure we will do it. The kind of commitment we saw inside the factory - the resilience of the workers, have shown that yes, our people can deliver, just give them the enabling environment.
โWe will patronize you and we are very much interested in bringing your factory to Ebonyi State. I know what it takes to establish this sort of high-density factory in Nigeria - a lot of bottlenecks from the office of the Governor, but I am here. So, it is already taken care of. There will be no bottlenecks. Just bring your machines to Ebonyi State, build the factory and start your work.โ โ Governor Nwifuru said.
The CEO of COMET, Mr. Slim Driss expressed delight at the Governorโs foresight, disposition and development strides in Governance. They will be part of the business delegation from Tunisia to visit Ebonyi State in September for feasibility studies.
Governor Nwifuru was on the tour with the State Commissioners for Trade and Investment โ Elechi Elechi Nnannia, Commerce and Industry โ Oguzorkanu Offia-Nwali, Agriculture and Natural Resources โ Princess (Mrs.) Nkechinyere Iyioku and the Commissioner for Finance - Dr. Leonard Uguru.
