President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has, once again, reflected meaningfully on the 5th and the 6th lines in first stanza of the old Nigerian National Anthem, "The Labour of our Heros Past Shall Never Be in Vain"; conferring a Posthumous National Honour of COMMANDER OF THE ORDER OF THE NIGER (CON) to Late Sen. Chief Polycarp Ogbonnia Nwite.

Late Sen. Chief Polycarp Nwite, when alive, contributed meaningfully to the development of our dear state and nation hence, very deserving of this honour.

Incase you don't know:

Late Sen. Chief Polycarp Nwite CON influenced the approval of Abakaliki as the capital of Ebonyi State against Afikpo as then proposed.

He was the Chairman, Senate Committee on Security and National Intelligence and Senator who represented Enugu East in Nigerian Senate.

He was also Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic of Botswana and was subsequently appointed Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political Matters.

Sen. Chief Nwite, was an Elder Statesman.

Indeed, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has just remembered a good Past.

To God be the glory!

How many of you know that the Izzi dialect is actually one of the original and purest forms of the Igbo language? The so-called “Central Igbo” we speak today was influenced heavily by the British during colonial times. When they tried to learn and speak our dialects, they couldn’t pronounce many words properly, so they used their own versions, and over time, our people adopted those mispronunciations as standard.

Take for example “Danu ge ime?” in Izzi, this means “How are you?” But the British couldn’t pronounce “Danu” properly, so they said “Kedu” “ka ime?” and that version spread.

I personally feel that colonialism didn’t just affect our politics and economy, it also touched our tongue, our identity, and the way we now see ourselves. Izzi, like many other core dialects, carries the ancient tone and structure of the Igbo language, before it was diluted.

This is why I don’t joke with our dialects I never see it as as inferior. It’s not the broken version of Igbo, it’s the roots.

Meet Late General Philip Effiong, he was the second in command to General Odumegwu Ojukwu and the 2nd and last president of the Republic of Biafra during the Biafran War from 1967 to 1970.

He became President of Biafra on the 8th of January to 12 of January 1970 after Ojukwu fled the country to avoid being captured and k!lled by the Nigerian Government.

It was Philip Effiong who handed over to the Nigerian Government as was pre-planned by the Biafran authorities.

In his surrender speech, Effiong stated:

"I am convinced now that a stop must be put to the bloodshed which is going on as a result of the war. I am also convinced that the suffering of our people must be brought to an immediate end..

If you fail to treat the surrendering Biafrans well, their children will rise up and fight again.”

Philip Effiong passed away on November 6, 2003, in Aba, Abia State, at the age of 77.

His son, Prof. Philip Effiong Jr., authored the memoir Un-Civil War: Memories of a Biafran Child, which provides personal insights into their family's experiences during and after the war.

Omo! 😢 This one pain me deeply.
Benue boy, Mathias Yogboh, made a post back in April, asking Facebook to help him find a wife.

Why?
He said he wanted to have a child — just in case anything happened to him.
He feared he might not live long, with the constant threat from killer herdsmen in his area.

Day before yesterday, his worst fear came true.
Reports say killer herdsmen took his life. 💔

A young man who just wanted to love, live, and leave a legacy... now gone too soon.
Rest in peace, Mathias.
May Nigeria not continue to bury her future.
