SUNDAY PARENTING RESET 🌱
“Before you start another week of parenting, let’s reset ONE thing…”
📱 SCREEN TIME.
Screen time struggles are a BIG deal for many parents, especially during the long holiday.
But what if the solution isn't simply “take away the screen”?
What if we replace the screen with exciting, meaningful and engaging activities?
One practical solution is to create a STRUCTURED DAILY ROUTINE your children can follow.
A routine gives them something to look forward to and helps them know what to do, when to do it, and how to occupy themselves meaningfully.
Here are some ideas you can rotate throughout the week:
🧩 Puzzle time – build problem-solving and concentration.
🎨 Arts & crafts – colouring, painting, cutting, pasting and creating.
💃🏽 Dance & movement – try Dancing Around the Chair or freeze dance.
🚦 Red Light, Green Light – a simple game that builds listening, focus and self-control.
🌳 Outdoor play – running, jumping, ball games, cycling, nature walks and free play.
🍳 Meal preparation – allow them to participate in age-appropriate kitchen tasks.
🍽️ Table setting – let them arrange plates, cups and cutlery.
🧹 Cleaning up – teach them to clean their play area and participate in age-appropriate household chores.
📚 Reading time – allow them to choose books they enjoy.
🧠 Independent play – give them time to explore, imagine, build and create without constant adult direction.
🙏🏽 Faith-based activities – Bible stories, memory verses, prayer and gratitude activities.
Don't only focus on reducing screen time.
👉🏽 REPLACE IT.
When children have a predictable routine filled with interesting activities, responsibilities, movement, creativity and play, they gradually learn that fun doesn't have to come from a screen.
