“ just imagine this mannerless girl we brought from the village talking back at us. He fired back at her”.

“you need to be dealt with funke. This is so absurd and disrespectful of you!! Bimbo slammed her.

“madam talkative. I don’t blame you na when you supposed to focus on your disability children, you’re here saying trash. It’s better all of you pack your stinking miserable self out of my house, before I loose our dog to eat you raw. Funke said walking out on them.

The inlaws felt so embarrassed and angry and left angrily miming as they walk out

She looked at the caller to be sure is her husband number that’s is on call and was confused on the voice she just heard.

Several years later Tracy gush into the sitting room joyfully calling out her husband.

“what is it this time around that you are jumping here and there?.

"My husband, it’s a great news. Finally God has done it 😁 I’m 3 weeks pregnant!!!.

She jumped excitedly all over her husband.

"I told you darling, that it may only tarry but it will surely come to pass." He said smiling at her.
"Can you now see the God of wonders. It is even when you are already given up that he then showed us that he is a miracle working God.

"You’re very right! Sincerely this come as a very big surprised to me. Because I was not feeling any sign or kind at all. All my thoughts is malaria not knowing it is omolaria .

“God is never a man to lie nor a man to fail. The Bible said it is better to trust in God than having trust in any man.

"Hmm, you’re definitely right. Because what would that herbalist have said, had it been I followed my aunty instruction from him.

"Definitely, he might say it was his instructions and whatever he gives you that produce the child." He said, laughing at her.

“it’s not funny oo my husband. It won’t be funny at all. God glory will now be giving to someone else. God forbid!

THE INCIDENTS

It was the day of delivery and Ben kept parambulating except from the nurse or doctor. His sister kept calming him but he was not in for that. At the sight of the doctor he sprang up towards him.

“ Doctor, how is my wife and the baby? He asked sweating.”

"Ehn.. Mr Benjamin. Your child is doing well, infact a bouncing baby girl". The doctor said.

“ohh! Thank you Jesus! Thank you Jesus!!! How about my wife?.

"Ye….s you…r wife is… you know Mr Benjamin. At this stage you just have to take heart". He said adjusting his lab coat.

“ ha..ha take heart as how? (he held onto the doctor) what do you mean doctor.. let me understand!

"I’m sorry sir. You know we try all our possible best on her but after she delivered she gave up. She really tried to survive but we can't question God." He said consoling him.

“ yeh! Doctor!!! Why will she dié after delivering? No just tell me!!! My wife can’t dié like that doctor.

"We’re sorry sir, she lost so much blo.od from bleéding an… (Ben fainted) Mr ben! Mr ben!!!

Months Later

Some months later Mr Ben families came over to persuade him to marry another wife because of his child.

“Ben, you can’t take care of your child on your own in as much you know the nature of your business.” Pa’ Joshua said to him.

“it’s true my brother, that is what you should do. Because you know already I can’t take her in when you’re still alive.
So, it will be good to have another wife. I agree to it." Bimbo said

“ I will think about all you said. I wish Tracy didn’t dié. she should have been the one to nurture our child herself". Ben started said crying.

“it’s okay. You’re a man crying like a woman! Brace up and get a wife. Infact we will provide a responsible one from the village for you. Pa’ Timothy said patting him.

“Egbon, you just have to let it go and focus on your child for now. Tracy is gone and gone for good. At least she delivered the baby. What if it turns out that they both diëd. What would you have done?

"I might have committed sucîde". His eyes full of tears, memories of his wife journey with him makes his head swelled.

NEW BEGINNING

Mr Ben had no choice and eventually bring in another woman. Although not really his choice, but just had to accept for his daughter sake and moreover his families swearing down to earth about the capability of the lady. They both starting living together, but he hardly stays back home because of his business.

Several years later, Ben daughter Beatrice has grown into a pretty lady but she has always been treated awfully by her step mother Funke.

“What could this st*pid girl be doing at the market since. Is it not to get little stuff and she decided to sleep there forever, Okay na!

She began peeling yam and raining curses on Beatrice. Her angry mood was interrupted by her maid who called her attention about Her in-laws who arrived. She went to the sitting room and sat without greeting them.

“ah..ah.. funke don’t you recognize our presence? That you can’t greet." Pa’ Joshua said looking agape.

“I don’t know or you think I’m blind or what?
She said readjusting herself.

“ ehee😳 infact I’m affirming what they have been saying about you. So it’s true!." Bimbo said clapping her hands in surprise.

“hey…hey excuse you! What are you trying to castigate at me. Oh…oh..ohhh you all have been calling me witch right? I know!." She said, hissing at them.

It was a blown of shock to their faces.

“Funke! Do you realize you’re talking to your in-laws! You better take precautions An…..". Pa’Timothy said trying to caution her but was cut short.”

“caution who? No tell me. Caution who? I don’t even know why you’re here. Who knows maybe you have gone wrecked and then come here to seek for help again." She said

"Ahhhh Ahhhhh ahhh". They all screamed speechlessly.

Pa’Joshua stood up to attack her but was held back by pa’Timothy and Bimbo.

Tracy have been married for years without a child. She is married to a wealthy and influencer man Benjamin, some do call him Ben while others Benjamin.

Benjamin came back from work seeing his wife in tears with Bible and a prophetic book I SHALL NOT BE BARREN. BY BISHOP OYEDEPO Beside her.

“Dear, I have been telling you to stop all this unnecessary tears. You’re seriously trying to disfigured your beautiful face for me, and I don’t like it. Are we God?

"No". She said

"Are we the one to give baby?.

" No". She answered

"So why bothering yourself, or am I complaining to you?.

"No". she answered.

"Then why are you doing this to yourself. Look at you now (pointing to the book) you’re reading something that could make you overcome your fear and gives you faith. Or is it written there that you must cry? He asked.

"No". She answered.

"So, clean up this tears and brace up, I wonder how you behave outside if you can be doing like this at home.

“I just want my own child… i have going out and seeing some of my mate with their children do make me sad 😢 at times, some of our neighbors do send their child away from me or hinder them from collecting anything from me in which I understand." She said crying.

"My dear, this is not the first time you will be telling me this. All I just want you to know is that. They will never give birth to your own child with theirs. Never! Your friend has doesn’t deprive you from having yours. So stop all these please.

Tracy stood up cleaning her tears, took her husband bag to the room and prepare dinner.

FAMILY PALAVA

“Tracy sat in the sitting room after doing the house chores. She then took her phone and started chatting with her husband who left for work, then her in-laws knocked.

Ko…ko…ko.kooo

She stood up and rush to the door to open it but was pushed away by Pa’ Joshua who entered with force.

"Welcome sir,". She said smiling but he didn’t answer her.

"I’m greeting you my in-law." She said again ushering him to sit down.

"And who is your in-law 😡 I said who is your in-law!! You this barren woman.
Imagine, (looking everywhere) all you know is to sit at home and be pressing phone or watch TV. Your common sense…well common sense is not common anyways. You have nothing to offer than wasting your useless self in my brothers house.

"But, my in-law it is n….. (she knelt down)

"Keep quiet there. I know you will not let me say. What you have to say is just meaningless! By the time we will be through with you. You will take your toothpicks leg out of this house. Just see, see what she is drinking inside her empty stomach". Pa’ Joshua said, took the tea mug in front of her and poured it on her before leaving the house angrily.

"God! what have I done to deserve all this?
I have never for once have peace with my in-laws. If they don’t call me weitch, they either call me all sorts of name that is not hearable.
Just have mercy 😔 and Grant me my heart desires." She cried rolling on the floor.

Oluchi dashed into her hostel room flinging her wig at Favour.

Priscilla: wieeked friend as how?”. She asked holding oluchi but she pushed her to the floor.
Oluchi and favour continues to fight, scattering everywhere.

Priscilla: what is the meaning of all this now, oluchi!!! Can’t you listen and just say what is going on?”. She shouted at her and oluchi pushed favour away on top of her.

Oluchi: Priscilla, can you imagine that she’s the one who sent that strange lady to come destroy the relationship between Michael and I, can you imagine that too! Very shameful girl!

Priscilla: ha! (Exclaimed) is it true Favour?.

Favour: what nonsense is this Priscilla and you also think of believing her? Why should I send someone to scatter her relationship with Michael, like how?”. She answered panting.

Oluchi: I know you will not adhere to it, I know. Don’t worry the girl is here (favour look around) I will tell her to come inside. I now understand why you’re always against him whenever I bring up the issue of him loving me. Chai! You’re a bad type of friend Favour!.

Favour: you have to believe me na Priscilla. Oluchi is just trying to frame things up with me maybe because she knew I once had a crush on Michael.

Priscilla: hmm’ now I see you have just spit the truth. Definitely you might do it because I don’t trust you.

Oluchi entered with Michael and joy.

Oluchi: so, do you know her or not?. (She faced favour who looked away)

Joy: favour, you shouldn’t look away oo because I have told them the truth. And also the threatening messages I have been sending to Oluchi.

Favour: And why will you do that joy? Is not what I really sent you that you did”. She said angrily, frowning up.

Priscilla: ehn! Favour. So, it’s true. Ha!.

Oluchi: infact I’m so disappointed in you favour! I never expected this from you at all. Why will you do that.

Michael stood behind joy watching them as joy suddenly turns to him on her knees.
Joy: please, I have done what you wanted me to do. Please I beg you in God’s name, let me be accepted at your work sir please, please. I have been praying for long for a job.

Favour: I’m sorry Oluchi. I became jealous because of how you do bring things from outing when you’re with Michael. I felt too intimidated and really wished I should have been the one in your position since I had long time had interest in him.

Priscilla: that’s not an excuse favour.

Oluchi: Don’t mind her, is it because I didn’t tell you what made me made a move to him. He was the one that paid for my items at the supermarket I told you two about sometimes ago.

Priscilla: really, so he is the one. No wonder!!!
