You and Your Household (Text: Genesis chapter 18 verses 19)
As leaders in our homes, we should first examine our hearts to know whether we are truly leading according to God's will.
It is good to receive advice from your spouse, whether husband or wife. However, every piece of advice should be prayerfully examined before it is accepted. Let God's Word be the standard for every decision.
God must be the Head of every home. We should submit ourselves to His leadership and also show respect and honor to those He has placed over us, such as our parents, elders, and leaders.
A true leader leads by example. You cannot expect others to follow you if your life does not reflect godly character. Our leadership must always be under God's authority and direction.
How Can We Lead Our Homes?
1. Let Your Household Know God
Make it your priority to introduce your family to God. Teach them the Scriptures, encourage them to study the Bible, and help them understand God's will. Let every member of your household know that God comes first in every aspect of life.
2. Provide for Your Family
Parents should take responsibility for the needs of their family. While the husband has the primary responsibility of providing, it is also a blessing when the wife supports according to her ability. Marriage is a partnership, and both husband and wife should work together to ensure the well-being of their children and home.
3. Intercede for Your Children Regularly
Never stop praying for your children. Commit them into God's hands every day. Ask about their well-being, know where they are, guide them with love, and stay involved in their lives. In these challenging times, our children need both our prayers and our attention.
