MURPHY SALAMI: A NOBLE EXIT FROM SERVICE, A LASTING LEGACY
• A Tribute to CSP Murphy Akanbi Salami on his active retirement from service

The Ogun State Chapter of the Freelance and Independent Broadcasters’ Association of Nigeria (FIBAN) celebrates with profound gratitude and heartfelt emotions, CSP Murphy Akanbi Salami, the immediate past Commander of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), Ogun State, as he bows out of the Nigeria Police Force after a distinguished career of service to humanity and the nation.

Retirement is not merely the closing of a chapter; it is the beginning of another phase in the life of a man who has given the best years of his life to the protection of lives, preservation of peace and defence of the rule of law. For us at Ogun FIBAN, your retirement is therefore a moment of mixed emotions — we celebrate your remarkable service even as we bid farewell to a dependable friend and an officer whose presence made a difference.

As Commander SWAT, you demonstrated courage, discipline, professionalism and an uncommon commitment to duty. Your approach to policing reflected not only the strength expected of an officer of your rank, but also the humanity required of a public servant. You understood that effective security goes beyond the use of authority; it requires listening, engagement, collaboration and respect for the people being served.

The broadcasting community in Ogun State particularly appreciates your understanding of the critical role of the media in society. You recognised broadcasters as partners in the pursuit of peace, public enlightenment and community development. Your accessibility, maturity and willingness to engage with stakeholders contributed immensely to strengthening the relationship between the security community and the media.

CSP Murphy Akanbi Salami, your footprints in Ogun State will not be easily erased. Beyond the uniforms, ranks and official responsibilities, you leave behind memories of a man who served with dedication and interacted with people with respect. You have contributed your quota to the security architecture of our dear state, and history will remember your years of service with honour.

On behalf of the leadership and entire membership of Ogun FIBAN, we salute you for your sacrifices, resilience and commitment to duty. We are grateful for the moments of collaboration, the guidance you offered, and the confidence you reposed in the broadcasting profession.

As you retire from active police service, we pray that God Almighty will grant you long life, sound health, peace of mind, abundant blessings and a fulfilling new chapter. May the years ahead reward you richly for the years you devoted to serving others. May you enjoy the love of your family, the respect of your community and the satisfaction that comes from knowing that you served your nation with honour.

You may be retiring from the Nigeria Police Force, but you are certainly not retiring from the hearts of those whose lives you touched.

Thank you for your service.
Thank you for your courage.
Thank you for your humanity.
Thank you for being a worthy friend to the media community.

Congratulations on your retirement, CSP Murphy Akanbi Salami.

Your uniform may come off, but your legacy of service remains.

With profound respect and warmest regards,

HON. CHIEF OLALEKAN A. SHOYINKA (AYINLA EGBA)
Chairman FIBAN.

OGUN FIBAN MOURNS THE PASSING OF TAIWO HASSAN “OGOGO OMO KULODO”

It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that the Ogun State Chapter of the Freelance and Independent Broadcasters’ Association of Nigeria (Ogun FIBAN) mourns the passing of the renowned actor and respected thespian, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as “Ogogo Omo Kulodo.”

His death is a painful loss to the Nigerian entertainment industry, the Yoruba film community, Ogun State and the nation at large. Ogogo was not merely an accomplished actor; he was a remarkable creative personality whose talent, dedication and contribution to the growth and development of Nigerian theatre and film earned him a special place in the hearts of millions.

At this difficult moment, Ogun FIBAN stands in solidarity with his immediate family, friends, associates, leadership and members of TAMPAN, as well as all thespians, colleagues and practitioners across Nigeria’s entertainment industry. We also extend our heartfelt condolences to the good people of Ogun State, particularly all those who knew, loved and admired this great son of the soil.

The vacuum created by his departure will undoubtedly be deeply felt. His remarkable body of work, his passion for the arts and the memories he created through his years of service to the entertainment industry will, however, remain part of his enduring legacy.

We pray that the Almighty God will grant his soul eternal rest, give his family and loved ones the strength to bear this irreparable loss, and comfort everyone mourning this great departure.

Rest in peace, Ogogo Omo Kulodo. Your voice may be silent, but your legacy will continue to speak.
