Tempo
The speed of the music (fast, slow, moderate). Example: Allegro = fast, Adagio = slow.
Dynamics
The loudness or softness of music. Example: piano (p) = soft, forte (f) = loud.
Pitch
How high or low a note sounds. Example: βdoβ is lower than βso.β
Rhythm
The pattern of beats and timing in music. Itβs what makes you clap or tap your foot.
Melody
A sequence of notes played or sung one after the other to form a tune.
Harmony
When two or more notes are played or sung together to make a rich sound.
Chord
A group of three or more notes played at the same time. Example: CβEβG.

A series of notes in order, usually from low to high. Example: doβreβmiβfaβsoβlaβtiβdo.
Key
The main βhomeβ note and scale of a song. Example: A song in the key of C major uses mostly C major scale notes.
Time Signature
Shows how many beats are in each bar of music. Example: 4/4 means four beats in every bar.
