Why Some Ngwa People Don't Help Their People.

Marc chuks Nwadioha wrote.

Recently, Obinna Udenwe, my colleague in the writing industry who hails from Abakilike in Ebonyi State launched one of his books titled " Years of Shame '. Initially, according to him, he just wanted to organise a small get together with few like minded friends where he would introduce his new book. But his friends said no no, writing a book is not easy and moreover you have made our people happy by authoring this book. Let's get the attention of our big brothers in politics, business etc and lo and behold the attention of the executive governor, former governor, former and serving national assembly members were gotten and to cut the long story short, the day of the launching, the governor of Ebonyi state alone gave this young man the sum of 27 million naira.

Now compared to my brothers from Ngwa land.

In 2016 when my brother Okezie Ikpeazu was governor, ( the governor and I hail from the same local government of Obingwa), I reached out to the governor and told him I have a book which I would want to get his support during the launching. I went further to tell him that this particular book was at that time, recognised by Lagos state government and other few other states. The governor commended my effort and asked me to reach out to any of his PAs. Now that was a good response expected from a governor, considering the busy nature of his office. There were so many of his PAs but I decided to reach out to Enyinnaya Appolos. Now the reason I choosed to go through Enyinnaya Appolos is because he is also my brother. ( YOU will get to his village immediately after my own village) moreover, he knows me and some of my brothers too. So I felt sure that this person would not just present my case but defend me before the governor.
Thirdly, I've met Enyinnaya when he came to Lagos with the governor during the campaign period. The governor had invited Abians in Lagos and the venue was at the surulere national stadium.
I still remember the first thing Enyinnaya asked me when we met. ' How is your writing journey doing? Was his question. So he already knew my writing skills. With all of the above reasons, I felt that Enyinnaya was the right person to relate the governor's massage...a decision I regretted painfully.

I told my brother Enyinnaya that I just finished speaking with the governor and he told me to reach any of his aids to remind him of new developments in the book launching project.
Briefly, Enyinnaya told me that I should fix a date for the launching and get back to him. Wow! I was very happy

I went into planning and preparation, even borrowing money to rent a befitting hall in the heart of Lagos. Next, I sent the invitation card where I had the governor as the special guest of honour to Enyinnaya through a courier service. I was filling fulfilled!
After some days my phone rang. I was glad it was Enyinnaya and I was expecting a news that would change my life for good. But it happened to be the most stinking word I had ever received in my whole life.
' who are you to invite the governor to your book launch" Enyinnaya angry voice sounded from the other end. " You people want to spoil this opportunity that God gave us' he continued to rage until I quietly hung the phone.

I attended my book launch from a sick bed.

Now this is the part 2 of the story.

After the launching, I reached Enyinnaya again and asked if I could send some copies to the governor through him, maybe the governor may still support me because I was in a heavy dept.
Enyinnaya agreed and asked me to send it. So I packaged 10 copies of the book which was received by GS Nwokoma in aba and he later sent to Enyinnaya's office in Umuahia( by then Enyinnaya has been made the Chief Press Secretary to the governor). I later called him to confirm if the books has gotten to him which he affirmed.
Since then I kept calling Enyinnaya to know if the governor has gotten the books . I called, called, called and called until Enyinnaya stopped picking my calls

Now after 2 years, in 2017 pricely, the governor came to Lagos to thank Abians for supporting him and again Enyinnaya was among the entourage.
After the program I met Enyinnaya at car park of the national theatre where he was selecting those he would take to see the governor in his hotel. I pleaded with him to allow me join them so that the governor will see me for the first time, to my greatest suprise, Enyinnaya entered his car, banged the door on me and drove away.

It was one guy among the entourage that asked me why I should be going through Enyinnaya when there are other good guys in Ikpeazu s cabinet. He even suggested I would had gone through Amechi Hanson who was then the chairman of Obingwa Local Government.

But that was 10 years ago, today is definitely better than my yesterday.

Today my brother Enyinnaya Appolos and few others who stopped us from receiving help from our brother governor are no longer in office.

This is the dark side of an Ngwa man which has hindered progress in our land

Who knows tomorrow.

In 2020, while working on a' School to School Child Development and Parenting Project ' I did research on how 21st century parenting can modify the behaviours of children and put it on a training manual for schools. At the time, I had no intention of publishing it as a book, but something happened.
Parents were so fascinated by these practical parenting tips and started calling me to publish it as a book.

Because I was keen on people reading it, and excited that they found it valuable, I obliged and in 2023, it was first published by Speak Africa international, a publishing arm of Saicentre.
To the glory of God, the first edition got sold out within 12 months.

A pastor in Lagos bought over 200 copies as a gift to his members.

I was at Akpaa Mbato yesterday 04/07/24 accompanied by the DPOs of Eastern Ngwa and Ohuru Isimiri, NSCDC Divisional Officer, Homeland Security Commander, and the leader of Miyetti Allah in Abia State as a move to finding lasting solution to herdsmen invasion of farmlands and destruction of crops. We assured the community of the determination of our dear Governor Dr Alex Chioma Otti,OFR to the protection of lives and properties of every Abian and urged them to continue to be law abiding.

We were also at Umuezigbe Amaise to equally inspect the farms destroyed by the invading cattles and addressed the community

Finally, we were at the Nigerian Christian Hospital, Nlagu to see the Driver who sustained injuries as a result of attack by some youths. Later, we addressed the Trailer Drivers who had blocked the road for upto 18hrs. Happily, they agreed to clear the road for vehicular movement while I wrote off the hospital bill of the victim.

Egwuibe, A Council Boss With a Difference.

Marc Chuks B. Nwadioha.

When the good people of Abia state massively voted Dr Alex Otti and his Labour Party into power, many spectators never knew that the Otti's ' New Abia Mantra' would gradually turned to reality untill after the key appointments which had the likes of Dr Eric Egwuibe as Special Adviser on Budget & Planning and later the Council Boss of Obingwa, the most populated local government in the state.
In the same high spirit like that of his principal, Dr Egwuibe, just few weeks after his swearing -in, had introduced the ' Rebrand Obingwa ' a project which he had stayed in the forefront as a player and also inculcating it into the minds of his ward leaders. Today, the new look of Obingwa is noticeably glittering due to the massive road construction networks introduced and championed by the change agent himself.

Commuters and transporters plying major link roads like Umuokenye- Ukpakiri, Nenu- Umuokahia , Umuomuma - Ovom including communities around Aloma and many other roads in the local government can testify that truly a new sheriff is in town!

In his book,' The 48 Laws Of Power' Robert Greene offered commonsensical advice to prove his point that power is a dangerous game and only leaders who understands its dynamics can enjoy natural support from the govern. Greene recommends humility, obscurity and skillful navigation as the best strategy in order to make a difference, a path which Dr Eric Egwuibe willingly tolled

Most people would not hesitate to describe the Obingwa boss as a humble man, selfless and goal oriented individual whose ingenuity distinguished him as a leader of thought under Robert Greene's ideology. In one of his admonition during a religious gathering, Dr Egwuibe, speaking under a topic,' Life is a vapour as power is transient " admonished those in power to cloth themselves with humility, noting that power is given by God for a divine purpose.
