Oshiomhole’s Response to Betsy Obaseki: A Needed Reality Check on Hypocrisy
Recently, a video has emerged showing Adams Oshiomhole strongly condemning Betsy Obaseki, the First Lady of Edo State, for making disparaging remarks about Monday Okpebholo, the APC gubernatorial candidate. Obaseki’s comments, which mocked Okpebholo by claiming he has no wife, have stirred significant debate, with the opposition criticizing Oshiomhole’s response. However, a closer examination reveals several crucial points that underline the fairness and validity of Oshiomhole's stance.
Betsy Obaseki’s remarks about Monday Okpebholo, suggesting that he has no wife, were perceived as not only offensive but also insensitive, given the personal context. The First Lady’s comments seemed to mock Okpebholo’s personal and family circumstances, despite her own situation being notably different. It is important to note that Betsy Obaseki and her husband, Governor Obaseki, do not have a child together, nor have they legally adopted one.
