— Nigeria has always been a Giant. The question is: Are we living like giants today? 🤔🇳🇬
NIGERIA BEFORE INDEPENDENCE Vs NIGERIA TODAY 🇳🇬 🇳🇬 🇳🇬
• Long before the British came, Nigeria wasn’t one country. It was made up of powerful kingdoms and empires:
• Benin Kingdom (famous for its bronze art, walls, and trade).
• Oyo Empire (strong in cavalry, politics, and expansion).
• Kanem-Bornu Empire in the north (known for Islamic scholarship, trade, and military strength).
• Igbo communities with unique village democracies.
• Each region had its own culture, rulers, religion, and systems of trade.
• In 1914, Lord Frederick Lugard merged the Northern and Southern protectorates — that was the “birth” of Nigeria (though not independence yet).
Nigeria Today 🇳🇬
• Largest Black Nation on Earth 🌍 (over 200 million people).
• Over 250 ethnic groups and 500+ languages.
• Richest in culture, music, food, and entertainment.
• Afrobeats has taken over the world (Wizkid, Burna Boy, Davido, Tems).
• Nollywood = 2nd largest film industry globally.
• Nigeria is both blessed and stressed — blessed with oil, brains, and talent; stressed with corruption, insecurity, and wahala.
• But despite everything, Nigerians are known for resilience, hustle spirit, and never-say-die attitude.
