Tinubu Takes War To Terrorists In The Bush

16 May, 2025

NEWS:

President Bola Tinubu has taken the war against terrorism to their hideout with the approval of armed forest guards across the country.

Under the National Security adviser’s office, the forest guard security forces will engage thousands of Nigerian youths.

President Tinubu said establishing the armed forest guard is a bold move to reclaim Nigeria’s vast forestlands from criminal elements and strengthen national security.

The initiative, unveiled on Wednesday night by special adviser to the president on media and public communication, Sunday Dare, seeks to drive terrorists, kidnappers, and other criminal gangs out of Nigeria’s 1,129 forest zones, which have become notorious hideouts in recent years.

In a statement posted on his verified X handle (), Dare said the new forest guard corps would be professionally trained and fully armed, and the federal and state governments would jointly undertake recruitment.

The implementation will be coordinated by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) and the Federal Ministry of Environment.

This initiative is described as multi-layered security and environmental protection.
“The President directed that the forest guards be well-trained and armed to flush out terrorists and criminal gangs hiding in the forests,” Dare said. “The recruitment is a joint effort between federal and state governments, while ONSA and the Ministry of Environment will oversee full implementation.”

Thousands of young Nigerians are expected to be engaged under the programme, which aligns with the administration’s push to tackle unemployment while restoring peace to Nigeria’s rural and semi-urban communities.

President Tinubu reiterated his firm resolve not to allow any part of Nigeria to remain under the control of non-state actors, declaring that “no inch of Nigerian territory will be surrendered to criminals.”

Meanwhile, the Senate has called on President Bola Tinubu to promptly assent to the Nigerian Forest Security Service (Establishment) Bill, 2025, recently passed by the National Assembly.

Insecurity: Tinubu in closed-door meeting with NSA, CDS

April 23, 2025

NEWS:

PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu is currently meeting behind closed doors with the National Security Adviser, NSA, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and the Chief of Defence Staff, CDS, General Chris Musa, at the State House, Abuja.

The meeting, which is happening at the official residence of the President in the State House, is coming at a time when the security situation in parts of the country have continued to worsen.

The two security Chiefs are expected to brief the President, who returned to Abuja on Monday night after spending from 19 days in Europe, on the security situation in the country and efforts being made to arrest the deteriorating situation.

Recall that security situation in Plateau and Benue states has worsened as the murderous gunmen, suspected to be invading foreign herders, have gruesomely murdered hundreds of people and sacked many communities thereby rendering the people homeless.

There have also been reports of other forms of criminal activities in other parts of the country, all of which have raised anxiety both at home and within the international community.

It was not certain if other security and intelligence chiefs have joined the meeting as at the time of filing this report, since it is being held at the residence, it is however believed that the meeting would go some space to take relief to the already traumatized areas of the country.

Niger Republic Dumps French Adopts Hausa As New Official Language,

April 9, 2025

NEWS:

The military government of Niger has continued its efforts to cut ties with France.
In its latest move, it has officially designated Hausa as the country’s new national language.

Previously, French had served as the central and official language of the nation.
This new development was announced in a charter released on March 31 and published in a special edition of the government’s official journal.

According to the document, “The national language is Hausa,” while “the working languages are English and French.”

Before this announcement, Hausa was already widely spoken in Niger, particularly in regions such as Zinder, Maradi, and Tahoua.

Out of the country’s estimated population of 26 million, the vast majority speak and understand Hausa.

In contrast, only around three million people— roughly 13 percent — can speak French.
The new charter also recognises nine other local languages, including Zarma-Songhay, Fula, Kanuri, Gourmanche, and Arabic, as “spoken languages of Niger.”

Additionally, the government has withdrawn from the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie, a group similar to the Commonwealth that supports French-speaking nations.

In January, French President Emmanuel Macron criticised African leaders for what he described as a lack of gratitude.

Speaking about developments in the region, Macron said: "We had a relationship based on security — it was twofold. On one hand, it was our commitment to fighting terrorism since 2013. We were right, though I think someone forgot to say thank you. It's okay, it will come with time.

"Ungratefulness, I know too well, is a disease that cannot be transmitted to men. But I say this for all African heads of state who have lacked courage in the face of public opinion."

"None of them would be sovereign countries today if the French army hadn’t been deployed in the region. My heart goes out to all our soldiers, some of whom have given their lives and fought for years."
"We did the right thing. We left because there were coups. We were there at the request of sovereign states who asked France to come."

"From the moment there were coups and the people stated their objectives no longer involved fighting terrorism — or were unclear— France no longer had a place there.”
It’s worth recalling that in December 2023, Niger Republic officially expelled French troops from the country.

We’ll make kidnappers, their collaborators pay for their heinous crimes —NSA, Ribadu

April 5, 2025

NEWS:

The National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, made the pledge in Abuja on Friday while handing over rescued kidnapping victims to their families, including a former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Maharazu Tsiga; Nigeria’s deputy head of mission to Pretoria, South Africa, Ambassador Gideon Yohana; and 17 others.

He said he was alarmed by the increasing cases of abduction despite the concerted efforts to combat the menace by the nation’s security agencies.
Speaking at the event, Ribadu emphasised that the government’s efforts to combat kidnapping were ongoing and relentless.

“We thank God for their lives. We are grateful to those who made this rescue possible. And this is an ongoing process. We are doing it quite silently. We’ll go after the bad ones. This is not the end of the story. These people have been rescued, but those who perpetrated this crime will pay dearly for it,” Ribadu declared.

Acknowledging the efforts of the security forces, the NSA credited President Bola Tinubu’s leadership for the progress made in tackling insecurity.

According to him, “The work we are doing today is a work in progress. We are not there yet, but significant achievements have been made under the leadership of our President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. On behalf of the President, we are grateful to our armed forces and security services for the work they are doing.”

Mallam Ribadu, who described the rescued individuals as symbols of collective sacrifice, having endured suffering at the hands of criminals, added, “These amazing people paid dearly on behalf of all of us.

They are symbols of our sacrifice, the torture and torment we have endured at the hands of a few but extremely bad individuals among us. We are grateful that all of you are looking well and will now return to your families.”

He then officially handed over the freed hostages to the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, who was tasked with reuniting them with their families.

“I want to formally hand them over to you, General, so that you can return them to their respective families. Thank you very much, and God bless you,” Ribadu said.

Following Ribadu’s remarks, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, reaffirmed the military’s commitment to ensuring the safety of Nigerians but stressed that the fight against insecurity required a collective national effort.

“It’s not going to be automatic; there’s still work to be done. But we, together as Nigerians, will take this challenge as a Nigerian challenge. And we must all work together to ensure success. We must support Mr. President, support the security forces, and support every Nigerian,” he said.

The CDS urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities, including any misconduct by security personnel, to ensure accountability.
He declared, “Our effort is for anybody who sees something going wrong—please report it, even if it involves our personnel. Once they do wrong, do not hesitate to report them so that we can take action.”

Gen. Musa emphasised that every Nigerian should feel safe in their own country and acknowledged the contributions of various stakeholders, including the media, in the fight against insecurity.

“We want every Nigerian to feel free in their own country and enjoy the benefits of being Nigerian. So, NSSR, we want to thank you very much for the support you’re giving. The Contemporary Zirazim Center, thank you for all you’re doing. And to every Nigerian, including the media, for providing a platform to reach out to all Nigerians to show what is being done—we say a very big thank you.”

Turning to the rescued victims, particularly Brigadier General Tsiga, the defense chief expressed relief over their safe return and reiterated the military’s resolve to pursue those responsible for the dastardly act.
“Our General, Sir, we are happy to have you. We’ve been so worried, but we made sure that we did not sleep until you were out. And to everybody here—sometimes bad things happen, but what do we do after that? We go after the bad guys. And they will pay for this.”

Gen. Musa assured that security forces would not relent in their efforts to protect Nigerians and bring criminals to justice.

“Congratulations on your release, and we assure you that we will continue to work assiduously for this country. Thank you very much,” he concluded.
One of the rescued victims, Brigadier General Tsiga, then took the podium to recount his harrowing experience in captivity, describing it as an ordeal no one should have to endure.

“To the committee advisor, the CDS, senior officers, my colleagues, distinguished ladies and gentlemen, I think if there is anything to be celebrated, it is this kind of situation that is most important to celebrate. Those of us who have gone through it, we have seen it. We’ve tested it.

“We must continuously be grateful to Almighty God for His mercies upon us. A day before I left there—just the day before yesterday—on the mountain where I was staying, unexpectedly, we looked around, and what did we see? A hyena parading around us, looking for food. And what kind of food? We, the human beings.

“I don’t suppose anyone who has not experienced that place could truly understand. One particularly horrifying experience was how those who knew our rank treated us. Whenever they were being attacked, they would bring us out so that the aircraft could hit us.

“But you know, God is merciful. The NSA has said it. The CDS has said it. The good ones will continue to live. Wallahi, there is an end to the bad ones.
“A rocket was sent to us. It did not explode. I am sharing my personal experience. What happened? They carried that rocket to where I was sleeping and kept it there, hiding it, so that the moment I touched it, it would explode.
“We must continue to believe in ourselves and trust that God is always there for us.

Lastly, we should all know that security is a collective responsibility. We should not sit back and believe that the government can do it alone. We must all contribute.
“The people are really in fear. One thing I must say here is that these criminals don’t fear God, but they fear aircraft. They don’t fear God. They tell you outright, ‘Don’t call God for us, just give us money.’ But the moment they see aircraft, even their cows start running.

“So, as much as the government is doing its best, we must also try to contribute. The NSA is not a magician. The CDS is not a magician. You must bring information to them so they can act on it. They cannot read your mind or go searching blindly. Action is taken when reports are made.
“I have not seen any good report. When people say, ‘Two heads are better than one,’ I say, ‘No—two good heads are better than one,’ because not every head is good. Am I correct?

“We thank Almighty God for giving us this opportunity to live again. We thank Almighty God for allowing us to come together again. When they brought me out, I asked myself, ‘Am I still a human being?’ Because where we were, you couldn’t see any other human being.

“When you stand, you sit down, and they give you food once a week. And that food lasts only two hours. I am hypertensive, and the only thing they used was salt. Even if you are not a doctor, you know that for hypertensive people, continuous salt intake is dangerous.

“Now look at me—I cannot climb these steps. It is all the salt, the beatings, and the torment they put us through.
“So, I want to say thank you very much, NSA, for calling us. Thank you very much, CDS, for calling us. To the very senior officers here, who are working day and night to drastically reduce this bad situation, we appreciate you. Please work harder.

“We were here 20 years ago doing the same thing. And we still feel strong enough to contribute whenever our attention is needed.

“To my colleagues here, take heart. Be stronger than you are now. This is a challenge—but I tell you, it is a challenge that will prepare you for your future.
“To those of you hearing us today, pray for us, and pray for yourselves.”

The National Coordinator of the National Terrorism Centre (NCTC), Major General Adamu Laka, had earlier handed over the former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig.-Gen. Maharazu Tsiga (rtd), and 18 others to the NSA, during which he explained that the security forces, including the military, DSS, police, and other agencies, worked tirelessly to rescue them unhurt.

Adamawa Govt Approves N14bn Budget Amendment For Key Infrastructure Projects

April 5, 2025

NEWS:

The Adamawa State Executive Council, presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, in its fourth meeting for 2025, has approved a significant amendment to the 2025 budget amounting to N14 billion.

The amendment aims to fund priority projects in infrastructure, education, agriculture, health, and environmental sensitization across the state.

Briefing journalists after the council meeting, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Iliya James, stated that the council’s approval does not constitute a supplementary budget but a realignment of the existing 2025 budget to accommodate the administration’s new priorities.

Among the key projects captured in the budget amendment are the construction of the Adamawa State International Conference Centre, upgrading the State College of Agricultural Science and Technology, and funding the state’s counterpart contribution to the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAMP).

Mr. James emphasized the importance of these developments in aligning the state’s budget with the current vision of the administration, stating: “This amendment ensures that the budget takes its proper shape and captures projects that were omitted earlier.”

In a related development, the council approved the award of contracts to consultants for both pre- and post-contract services for the remodelling and redevelopment of the staff quarters at the State Specialist Hospital, Yola.

The Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Emmanuel Predimso highlighted that the amendment reallocates resources within the budget to fund essential new projects that the governor deems urgent for the state’s development.
“The amendment of N14 billion is very necessary for the ex*****on of these critical projects,” he said.

Also speaking, the Commissioner of Health, Chief Felix Tangwami, revealed the government’s recent procurement of CT scan machines for State Specialist Hospitals in Yola and Numan.

He noted that the Kidney Centre at the Specialist Hospital is now fully functional and offering free services, while the public laboratory has been equipped and the administrative complex refurbished.

He also disclosed plans to remodel the hospital’s staff quarters to accommodate healthcare professionals working in critical units such as emergency and intensive care.
Chief Tangwami urged the public to remain vigilant amidst rising temperatures, warning of the risks of heatstroke and meningitis.

He advised residents to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight, and remain indoors where possible.
Addressing environmental concerns, Commissioner for Environment, Alhaji Mohammed Sadiq, briefed the council on the impact of climate change in the state.

He noted that irregular rainfall and extreme temperatures affected 14 local government areas last year, with drought and flooding recorded across many communities.

He reveals that a committee has been set up to develop a climate response strategy within a week, involving experts from the Ministries of Health, Environment, Local Government, Water Resources, and Information.

He said the council resolved to launch an extensive public sensitization campaign in all 21 local government areas, following the 2025 NIMET weather predictions, which forecast delayed rainfall, drought, high ambient temperatures, pest outbreaks, and increased risk of meningitis.

The Adamawa State Government reassures the public of its commitment to addressing climate and infrastructural challenges while prioritizing the health, safety, and development needs of its citizens.

JUST IN: Tinubu Sacks NNPC Boss Mele Kyari Amid Saga With Dangote.

April 2, 2025

NEWS:

One month after NNPC stopped the naira for crude sales to Dangote Refinery, Tinubu has Sacks NNPCL GCEO Mele Kyari and All Board Members, appointed Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari as the new GCEO.

The development in Nigeria's oil company happened amid the growing controversy between the NNPC Limited and Dangote Refinery, a major privately owned refinery in Nigeria. The NNPCL earlier agreed to sell Nigeria's crude oil to the refinery in naira, with the hope of stabilizing the naira and reducing fuel price in Nigeria.

However, the deal ended a month ago, and the two companies could not renew the contract, which has led to an increase in the price of fuel, and retailers now import fuel rather than buying from Dangote, as Dangote also sells in dollars following the end of the deal.

But on Wednesday morning, April 2, the presidency announced a major shakeup in Nigeria's major oil company as Tinubu's administration sacked GCEO Kyari, and all the board members and made fresh appointments.

Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari as the new GMD Adedapo Segun, who took over the role of chief financial officer from Umaru Isa Ajiya last November, has been named to the new board by President Tinubu. Six board members, non-executive directors, represent the country's geopolitical zones. They are Bello Rabiu, North West, Yusuf Usman, North East, and Babs Omotowa, a former managing director of the Nigerian Liquified Natural Gas( NLNG), who represents North Central.

President Tinubu appointed Austin Avuru as a non-executive director from the South-South, David Ige as a Non-executive director from the South West, and Henry Obih as a non-executive director from the South East.

Mrs Lydia Shehu Jafiya, permanent secretary of the Federal Ministry of Finance, will represent the ministry on the new board, while Aminu Said Ahmed will represent the Ministry of Petroleum Resources.
