In Spite of the Contradiction
(When the Worst Comes to Worst)
Africa is truly a beautiful place to be. You just have to love being here—because everywhere you turn, you’re surrounded by layers of beauty. Stories, carefully woven into the fabric of our environment, whisper hope and the promise of great possibilities.
Yet, within this beauty, deep contradictions exist—contradictions that try to suffocate dreams and silence the most beautiful stories. What are these contradictions? I’ll mention just a few: poverty, corruption, ethnicity, and more.
But you know what? It’s normal.
Normal? Yes—normal. Because the strongest trees are forged by the fiercest storms.
When the worst comes to worst, remember this: greatness lies beneath the surface. So go—move—in spite of the contradiction. The Creator placed you here, in Africa, for a reason, no matter the visible or perceived contradictions around you.
The Bible says in Isaiah 60:1, “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.” The verses that follow unveil the very contradictions we’ll face—but even in them, we are called to shine.
So here’s my charge to you: Go!
And as you go, you’ll see that those contradictions cannot bring you down. Even when the worst comes to worst, when all hope seems lost, be confident in this—the Lord who called you will never abandon His own.
Thank you for refusing to bow to the pressure of giving up—in spite of the contradiction.
Keep shining. Keep going. You are the light.
