The world has lost a true music legend. Dolly Parton has died at the age of 80.

Some Nigerian Gen Zs may not know her or may not understand just how BIG she was, but Dolly Parton was a global icon whose music, acting and philanthropy touched generations.

From “Jolene” to “9 to 5” and “I Will Always Love You,” her influence went far beyond country music.

She reportedly passed away peacefully in Nashville, Tennessee. Her cause of death has not been disclosed.

VeryDarkMan (Martins Vincent Otse) was honoured with a special award by the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) today, August 25, 2026, during the NBA’s 2026 Annual General Conference in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. He had been invited to speak at the conference on insecurity and shared his experiences from communities affected by violence.

Social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has received a special award from the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) during its 2026 Annual General Conference in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

VDM was invited to speak at the conference, where he shared his experiences and views on insecurity in Nigeria. His appearance had generated plenty of reactions, with many Nigerians questioning why a social media activist was invited to address a gathering of legal professionals.

But today, August 25, VDM not only addressed the gathering — he was also honoured with an award by the NBA. 🏆

Woman Arrested Over Alleged Killing of Co-Wife in Kogi

A woman identified as Khadijat has reportedly been arrested in connection with the alleged stabbing and death of her co-wife, Ramatu, in Ijoka community, Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The tragic incident reportedly happened on Thursday, August 13, 2026, while members of the family were in the bush harvesting palm kernels.

According to the women’s husband, Jibrin, Ramatu raised an alarm and cried for help during the alleged attack. Her cries reportedly drew the attention of other family members who were working nearby.

Jibrin said that when they tried to approach the area, Khadijat allegedly warned them not to come closer, claiming the place was unsafe. By the time they reached the location, she had reportedly left.

Ramatu was allegedly found with multiple stab wounds and was already dead.

The husband further claimed that the two women had an argument several weeks before the incident, raising concerns that the disagreement may have led to the alleged fatal confrontation.

Khadijat has reportedly been arrested as investigations continue to unravel what exactly happened.

Stop everything and listen to this.

Singapore is reportedly providing substantial financial support to families for every child born in the country.

A newborn baby can receive:
• S$10,000 baby gift
• S$5,000 medical grant
• S$5,000 Child Development Account initial grant
• S$5,000 dollar-for-dollar matching grant
And that’s not all.

Singaporean children continue to receive annual credits of S$2,000 from ages 1 to 16.
At age 17, an additional S$10,000 is deposited into their post-secondary education account.
Altogether, the total support can amount to nearly S$70,000 over a child’s journey from birth to age 17. Families with more children can receive even more support.
That is roughly ₦77 million when converted to Nigerian naira.
Here’s another interesting point: Singapore is not an oil-producing country. It has no domestic crude oil reserves and imports its oil.
Yet, through decades of strategic planning and economic development, Singapore became one of Asia’s “Four Tigers,” alongside Hong Kong, South Korea and Taiwan.

Prime Minister Lawrence Wong’s National Day Rally 2026 addressed major issues including public housing, family support and digital safeguards for young people.
The bigger question is this:
