Every great character has an unforgettable origin story... and so does the actor behind it.

When the idea for The Grain Trade was fully developed and the script was complete, we knew exactly what we wanted for the role of Zino—a fearless teenage girl with a small frame but a powerful screen presence.

We auditioned three talented young girls, but none of them truly matched the vision we had for the character. We were determined to find the right person.

Then one day, our Executive Producer Mariam Usman called me and said, "There's a young girl at the grocery store where I buy food ingredients. She's smart, confident, and I believe she can pull off the role. Why don't we give her an audition?"

I went to see her for myself.
What caught my attention wasn't just her appearance—it was her confidence. She was boldly standing up to a girl much bigger than she was, completely fearless. At that moment, I knew we had found our Zino.

We invited her for the second round of auditions, and she absolutely nailed it.
I was so impressed that I gave her a cash gift on the spot. That was the beginning of an incredible journey.

Today, that young girl is Victory Efosa, the actress who brings Zino to life in The Grain Trade—a character who quickly became the heart of the story.
Sometimes, all someone needs is a single opportunity.
