I WOKE UP THIS MORNING ANGRY AND FRUSTRATED — AND I THINK MANY NIGERIANS FEEL THE SAME WAY. 🇳🇬
Honestly, I struggle to understand why Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar, two major opposition figures, continue to stand on separate sides when many Nigerians are crying out for a stronger political alternative ahead of the 2027 elections.
If the ultimate objective is to rescue Nigeria from poverty, insecurity, unemployment, inflation and poor governance, then why can't political differences be put aside and genuine negotiations begin?
My question to Peter Obi and his supporters is simple: What exactly is the path to a united opposition?
And to Atiku and his supporters: What compromises are you willing to make for the bigger Nigerian project?
This isn't about personalities. It shouldn't be about who becomes president or who gets the vice-presidential ticket first. It should be about what arrangement can produce the strongest and most credible team for Nigeria.
Some people have argued that a former vice president should not return as a vice president, while others believe political experience should not be treated as a disadvantage. These are legitimate questions that should be openly debated rather than reduced to insults between supporters.
At the end of the day, Nigerians are the ones carrying the burden.
Minimum wages are under pressure. Inflation has made everyday necessities increasingly difficult for many families. Insecurity continues to affect communities. Young Nigerians are struggling for jobs and opportunities. Businesses are battling rising costs.
And yet, Nigeria remains a country blessed with enormous human and natural resources.
So what exactly are we doing wrong?
I am not saying Nigerians should blindly support Obi, Atiku, or anybody else. I am saying Nigerians deserve a serious conversation about how the opposition can present a credible, united and competent alternative.
