Nigeria’s fight against insecurity cannot be separated from the welfare of the men and women on the frontlines.

Across the country, we continue to see rising insecurity, yet reports and voices from within the Nigerian military suggest that many soldiers feel underpaid, under-equipped, and undervalued. This is a serious concern.

Fighting insecurity is not just about courage—it requires strength, proper nutrition, financial stability, and access to modern, sophisticated equipment. When those who risk their lives daily are struggling to meet basic needs, it affects morale, efficiency, and ultimately, national security.

We cannot expect maximum performance from individuals who feel neglected. Improving salaries, providing adequate welfare, and ensuring access to the right tools are not luxuries—they are necessities.
It is also important to understand that people cannot be forced into military service. Recruitment will only improve when the system reflects fairness, dignity, and proper reward for sacrifice. When people see that soldiers are respected, protected, and well cared for, more citizens will be willing to serve.

Nigeria’s security challenges require urgent, practical solutions. Supporting our military personnel is not optional—it is fundamental to winning the fight against insecurity.

She Said 5 years Relationship Wasted

A relationship should not only be about emotions, but also about direction, intention, and purpose.

It is difficult to understand how two people can stay together for five years, yet there is no clear step toward family involvement or commitment. In many cases, when a man is serious about marriage, he takes the step to meet the woman’s family within a reasonable period of time. This is not just tradition—it is a sign of responsibility and clarity of intention.

While every relationship is unique, spending many years without progress can lead to emotional loss, especially for one party who may be investing with expectations of building a future.

This is why it is important for individuals to learn from past experiences—both their own and others’. Love alone is not always enough; there must also be direction, mutual understanding, and a shared goal toward something meaningful.

For women and men alike, it is important to be intentional. If marriage is the goal, then the relationship should reflect progress toward that goal. If commitment is not ready, clarity should be communicated early to avoid wasting time and emotions.

The truth is, our government has misplaced priorities.

The basic things that will truly serve the people of Nigeria are right in front of us, yet they are neglected. Take electricity, for example—there is little to no stable power supply. Why is this still a problem in a country with so much potential? Why can’t we fix something as fundamental as light?

Then look at our roads. Many are in terrible condition and desperately need maintenance and expansion. Consider major routes—these are critical pathways for daily movement, business, and economic growth. Fixing these roads, expanding them into proper dual carriageways, and ensuring quality construction should be top priorities.

If we get electricity right and fix our road infrastructure, the economy will naturally grow. Businesses will thrive, transportation will improve, and productivity will increase. Add to that a properly functioning oil sector, with efficient refineries, and the impact would be massive.

Instead, we see billions of naira spent on projects that do not directly improve the lives of citizens. Building bus terminals where there are no good roads, no structured transport system, and no added value to the people—what does that achieve?

It’s time for a shift in focus. Let the government prioritize what truly matters: power, roads, and economic stability. These are the foundations of national development.

Nigeria deserves better. The people deserve better.
