Why do we screenshot payment receipts even after the app says “Successful”?

Why do waiting states feel stressful?

It’s not always the wait itself. Often, it’s the uncertainty of not knowing what’s happening.
A loading spinner, an empty state or a silent processing screen can leave users wondering.

Is my payment processing?
Is my file uploading?
Is the AI still generating?
Did something go wrong?

This is where behavioral design becomes important.
Good UX design doesn’t only make digital products easier to use. It can also shape how users feel and behave during moments of uncertainty.

Chrome’s offline dinosaur is a simple example: the internet is still down, but the product changes how the user experiences the wait.
Waiting is still an interaction.

For product teams, the question isn’t only “How fast can we make this?”

It’s also:

“What is the product communicating while the user waits?”

How design influences our decisions.

A cute fintech character designed to make financial interactions feel more human.
The idea was goo, the ex*****on looked good.

And that failure changed how I understood behavioral design and eventually led to GamGams Lab.
