🚨 One year ago, Nico Williams’ agent travelled to Barcelona to reopen talks with Barça.

The winger wanted the move and had reached a full agreement with the club until 2031, but the operation collapsed because Barça could not guarantee his registration.

Nico then renewed with Athletic Club until 2035.

Víctor Lozano: What the club has done is regrettable and unacceptable.

“I was very critical of Xavi when he was Barcelona’s coach — but only of Xavi the coach. Once he left and was no longer contractually linked to the club, he became what he has always been: a former Barcelona player, a legend, the greatest midfielder in the club’s history, and one of the greatest footballers of all time.

It is disgraceful that he may not be allowed to play with the Legends team simply because of comments he made or positions he took that the current board did not like during the election campaign.

People must know how to separate these things — this is a dictatorial attitude. Xavi took a position and had every right to do so. He said what he said, and everyone should respect it, even if it went against the interests of those currently running the club.

How can Xavi Hernández, the player, be prevented from playing? How can he be denied the chance to wear and represent the Barcelona badge that runs through his blood and lives in his heart as a true culé?

I hope the club comes out and denies this.”
